the reason i bring it up is because of the situation im in now

in class me and a few others share answers on review questions (which are done out side of class) but we also discuss why we came up with the answers that we did

another kid in our class i've noticed yesterday, seems to be blatently cheating

we went over the answers to the review questions then i heard the printer going, sure enough AFTER all the answers were given out, he walked up and handed in his review questions

then my lab partner saw him during a test crack open his lap top, write an answer or 2 and then close it again

all of which the teacher didn't see

is it wrong of me to be pissed at this kid? it seems he pays 3 grand a trimester for the free highspeed internet, and when ever we do group labs the problems and hang ups always seem to end up being this one kid

dude, cheating in school is so not important. Honestly, every class before college you should not care less. Cheat up and down all day, it doesn't matter. I promise it won't have any lasting effect on your life, probably not even your month.

Even in college I condone cheating. It's impossible to cheat on everything, so one that cheats on most things yet fails his final or whatever, will burn himself in the long run. If he knows enough to pass, and enough to cheat well, then more power to him.

Honestly, it won't have any lasting impact on you. Get over it. Don't turn him in. I can guarentee you one day you'll succomb to some sort of temptation and be caught, and you won't want that person turning you in. Karma will come back around. Do YOUR best and don't bother with others.

I'd write an anonymous note to the teacher and let them know....type it and leave it on their office door. Ask them to keep a watchful eye in the future.

How TF do you OPEN a laptop during an exam without the teacher noticing? Your teacher must be a complete moron to allow this to happen. If you decide to turn this person in, don't go to the teacher as he/she is obviously a complete idiot. Go straight to the chair/dean of your department.

the review questions are 20 -25 multiple choice questions in the back of each chapter, we have one week to do them inside or outside of class, and even yesterday we were talking pretty loud in class asking "what did you get for 14" and "why did you put that" and so on, the teacher didn't say anything

this other kid was taking a test at the time, our laptops were supposed to be closed, yet he cracked his open a few times to look at somthing

and the teacher asked if all review questions were in, then went over the answers, THEN this kid went up to the print got his that he printed out and put them on the pile

well the tables are filled with monitors and what not (desktop system for each student)

and the kid didn't open it all the way,

that and i think the teacher was busy grading other things or somthing

In regards to whether you guys were cheating, it depends on the teacher. If he's cool, and just wants you guys to learn, then I can't see how you did anything wrong, as long as you discuss the problems. But if he's a Nazi and insists you do the work alone, then yeah, you're cheating by breaking the rules.

He'll get screwed in the real world at some point. Unless you're on a curve, who cares?

You can rest well knowing that even if he gets a 4.0, he'll still get fired from any job after about a day if he doesn't actually know anything.

If you don't cheat in school at least somewhat, you're either an idiot or are too obsessed with education.

It' NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL! I swear one grade, hell 20 grades, in the scheme of your life will NOT make a difference. Make things a little easier on yourself now, 'cause they get tough once you hit the working world.

Ratters are douchebags. Everyone does things they shouldn't; people wouldn't want to be ratted out in their own situations and should treat others accordingly.

Don't let it bother you man, if you suck and can't make good grades on your own, either give up or start cheating, or work harder.

I wouldn't say anything, just be happy that you're learning something and he's not. I wouldn't ever consider working in groups on questions like that as cheating, it's a better way to learn. You don't get much out of choosing the wrong answer and losing points. You might as well collaboarte and figure out why you chose the wrong answer.

It amazes me how lazy people are and how clueless teachers can be. In my history class our professor passes around a sign in sheet. People will walk in the room after class as the rest of us (who actually were there the whole time) leave. They proceed to sign the attendance sheet and leave.

Also, we have take home quizzes and eventually grade them in class. This stupid girl walks in late and hasn't completed the quiz which she was clueless about because naturally, she didn't come to class when the professor reminded us about it. One of her friends lets her copy all of the answers and she gets credit for something she didn't even work on.

It sucks but in the end they're the losers. It just irks me that they are a waste of space in a university where people are fighting to add classes where ever the can.

I don't cheat and wouldn't allow anyone to cheat off of me.

but unless the class is graded on a curve, I wouldn't turn him in either. if he wants to waste his money, it's his choice.

they usually get caught...we had a group of 10+ Pakistan students get stopped coming to class one day....the teacher changed a minor issue in the program requirements, they all wrote the program that was required the year prior. The Pakistan teacher's aide leaked the info. They were all here on the same 'visa' sponsorship.

Cheating is rampant in college though...too many lazy teachers, easy to find out what last term did.

I used to do wierd things like do something in vbscript instead of C, or php instead of asp.
