Cheating in the university

Since when is studying LAST YEAR'S exam cheating? You're just upset that they are more resourceful than you.

Honestly, I never much cared about guys that were cheating to get by. I had a few "C-/D" friends at college who were in that boat. It used to disgust me though to see people cheating to beat the "curve" to get As. I guess philsophically it's the same, but from my point of view it wasn't. BTW, I don't see anything wrong with obtaining the previous year's midterm to study from. I had a friend a year ahead of me who would give them to me all the time. I would also usually share them with whoever I studied with (or asked me for that matter). Most of the time it didn't help as different professors would stress different things on their exams. Of course, there was the one time that one of my lazier profs used the same midterm from the previous year. I almost fell out of my seat. Of course, 3/4 of the class had seen the previous year's exam already (I shared with 2 friends and they shared with 2 friends and so on...). A disproportionate number of As on that midterm. I suppose that could be called inadvertent cheating?

i didn't think studying problems on old exams was considered cheating... that said, i did do a little bit of cheating like writing notes in my text on open book exams... although that;s questionable cheating

In college, snitch.. SNITCH all fvcking day. The way college administrations assrape cheaters will give you such a feeling of satisfaction.

In my 6th year of college, I have witnessed VERY little cheating here at UF. And, the general consensus seems to be that pretty much anyone would snitch if they witnessed cheating. In college, cheating is just too serious - especially in smaller classes where there's very few good grades given out..

I'd have to agree that I don't see how this is cheating. A prof. could easily rewrite the test every time and make the questions different. That's what they are getting paid for. It's the lazy teachers that make it easy for lazy students.

I cheated alot in sohpomore year, but I stopped because I really need to learn the material. Do not get caught up in this act because it really effects your study habits. My GPA is low, but I proud of it because i don't cheat anymore. I may have failed my midetrm today, but it feels kind of good knowing that I actually know what i do not really know.

I have teachers all the time hand out old exams themselves in order to help us get an idea of what to study. Nothing wrong with that in my book.......

Reality is that the people who are the most resourceful in gaining the correct answer or solution to the problem, no matter what way, are the ones who will succeed in the real world.

And therein lies the lesson. The real world isn't fair either. I hate that fact myself, but crying about it never really fixed anything.

Who cares? In the real world they won't have the skills to do the job and you will. Or more likely you'll both get the job because what you learned in school doesn't matter anyway because the company you go and work for will want to teach you their way of doing it.

Aside from a state job, I've never had anyone ask to see my proof of a degree, let alone my grades.
