cheapest wireless plan?

lately I've been thinking that I'm horribly overpaying in my $50/month verizon plan, considering how little I actually use it... I send a ton of texts every month, but a talkative week for me is ~30 minutes on the phone/week, so I thought I'd try and take a look to see what else is out there.

case in point -- my current plan gives me 400 minutes/month. in the entire month of June so far, I've used 20 minutes.

the only things that are really key for me is keeping my existing phone # (201 = first area code ever = ftw) and having a decent selection of phones.

VZW having a decent selection of phones? I disagree.

Check out Sprints SERO plan (google it and check the fatwallet thread). Other then that I don't think you'll be able to do much cheaper because AFAIK most plans have $40 or so for their lowest minute plan. The only other way would be a prepaid type phone that gives unlimited texts. Maybe Revol?

thanks! looking into sprint phones now, it seems like the SERO deal might save me $20/month.

See if you live in a metropcs area, they have pretty cheap plans and you dont have to worry about going over your minutes.
