I have posted this summilar thread about a year ago and didnt really get any good ideas. I would like to share contect across 3 tv's in my house without having to build 3 HTPC's. does anyone have any good ideas on how to do this? Currently Im useing comcast digital cable with built in PVR, but I would like to have 1 computer or device record all my programming and have the ability to watch/manage it from multiple tv's in the house without a significant loss in quality.

We have two DirecTV TiVo's... I realize this isn't going to help you, it's just going to give you an idea.

I hacked the TiVo's so it enabled their Home Media Option (HMO) which allows transferring of files between TiVo's as well as grab pictures and music from a centralized server (computer).

Anyways, The only costs were the two Tivo's (well one was free and I bought the other one off of ebay for $13 shipped (had a bad hard drive)... I got everything up and running and now can share content between two rooms flawlessly.

Each tivo has a USB Nic in them and I've got cable running from the tivo's to two of my strategically placed switches (one in the basement and one on the main level, even though both TiVo's are on the main level)

Easy. One Media Center PC and however many you want of Media Center Extenders. You can even use an old Xbox as one, but a standalone unit is around $200.

I used to have one computer with 3 tv's hooked up to it (and the monitor). These were old tv's with no RCA connections, so I used coax cable. I had an s-video connector coming off the videocard, converted that to rca which I then plugged into the VCR. From the VCR I ran a coax splitter that ran to the 3 tv's. Obviously, not DVD quality on the 3 tv's.
