sure, just go to the command line and type $ sed -i 's/broken/fixed/g' /home/F250/mechanical/transmission.cfg

Automatic? Depending on the miles on the truck, the cost of a good quality rebuilt may exceed the value of the truck...

Is it a diesel? 4x4 or 2x4?
Two wheel drives are pretty easy to change if you have access to a shop. Rent/borrow a tranny jack. Remove caps that hold U-joint together at the rear diff, drop and slide out the drive shaft. Remove lines, linkage, unplug wiring harness. Remove cross brace. Put jack into place, remove bell housing bolts, split tranny from engine block (be SUPER careful with torque converter if it's an automatic), crank down with jack. Repeat in reverse to install new one.
When reinstalling an automatic tranny, be SUPER gentle with the torque converter or you'll destroy the hydraulic pump. Get it almost into place and slide forward, spin until it slides forward again, repeat until it can't go forward anymore.
A quick google search shows the 4r100 and 34od trannies are around $1500 though a local junkyard might beat that handily.

its a 4wd

Best chance is to go to all local salvage yards, some will allow you to request your phone number on a calling list if that model/year comes to the yard.

But people don't just junk their F-250s, I have serious doubts you'll find one. And it sounds like even if you did, you wouldn't know how to install it.

You need to find one that was wrecked. A truck that was driven into the ground isn't much use for parts.
