Cheapest way to call Italy from US?

My girlfriend just arrived in Italy and will be studying abroad for the next 3 and a half months. She has a cell phone over there and Im trying to find the cheapest way to call her. Im here in the US and have only a cell phone, no land line. Any ideas? VoIP, calling card, etc. Whats the best, cheapest and most reliable way to call her?

It's about $.02/min to Italy or if she has a PC over there with broadband you could do Skype to Skype which is free.
