Cheapest time for hardware

Well, Black Friday is coming up, and my computer is feelin a bit old.

My question is simple, is it best to buy(newegg) on Black Friday, the week after, Christmas, after Christmas?

I just have a feeling that if I buy parts for a new computer on Black Friday that prices will dramatically drop right after Christmas.

Thanks in advance.

Computer prices are effected by new product launches or even when products are discontinued.

Trust me, I've seen price charts and have been watching prices since I built a computer for the first time six months ago. Mid range video cards will change in price slowly until new ones come out. Higher end cards or processors can go down in price for the first several months.

I think you will be ok on Black Friday. Week after Christmas is good but not good enouhg to wait 5 weeks.

What parts specifically are you looking for.

There are various Black Friday websites that already have scans of these retailers offerings.

I will be getting an A64 3000+, nF4 mobo, 6800GS, 450W PSU, Case, and DVD burner, more than likely from Newegg.

I don't want to either buy too early and then waste money or even wait too long and miss the deals.

It's basically, do I buy Friday, or the week after Christmas?

i don't know how newegg is but generally you get the CRAZY rebate deals during black friday and obviously you get the cheaper retail prices after christmas cause parts get cheaper as time progresses. if you trust MIR's i'd go with black friday. even if you see that it's $10 cheaper after christmas, think of this: the m2 line is coming out so after christmas, you could be asking the same question: should i buy now or at the release of the m2 line. i'd buy on friday if i were you

After Christmas (especially if the seasonal sales of tech stuff was well below prediction) and in the summer before back-to-school time. Of course, deals can happen anytime. The Hot Deals section here is your friend.
