Cheapest that i could find the SB Audigy Platinum $159.95(Also free shipping on $99+ @buy.com)

<< Might want to change the slightly misleading title. >>

Its not really misleading, it just confusing! 😕 🙂

i'm considering hopping on this deal for the Platinum EX since its 198.99 plus free shipping, so saving $50 off the price (and its only $40 more than the cheapest platinum)....anyone know how long the free shipping will last?

Do you think the prices of the platinum and the platinum EX will drop much more in the next 4 months?

man i wish i knew which computer show had that, i would have easily bought one...i dont need the EX, man do i want that platinum for that price.

Couldn't have been the big computer show in Raritan Center, Edison, NJ...these were $165-170 at most booths.

<< Anybody heard anything good or bad about the extigy yet? >>

Actually, I bought the Audigy Platinum, but never installed it, because I saw the Extigy right
after I bought it. So, I ordered the Extigy and sold the Audigy Platinum.
I just like the external idea much better. It works great! I have it hooked up to
a set of Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 speakers and it sounds awesome. Works especially good
for the Nascar Racing 4 game - ie: when you pass a car on the left, you hear the other car on
your right side go from the front speaker to the back and behind you - really wild!!

The main difference, I believe, between the Extigy and the Platinum is that the Extigy
does NOT have the 1384-Firewire port. This was not a problem for me, 'cuz I have one
with my StudioDV PCI card anyways.

Also, the Extigy is a little cheaper - it was $125 at buy.com, but now up to $134 and out-of-stock.
Or wait until Amazon throws another $20off$99 coupon out - their price is $150 (-$20=$130 w/free ship).

Hope this helps! 🙂

Hey, I'm gonna sound like an idiot here but can someone explain somethin to me? I just bought an audigy, and I have a set of ATP5 speakers. How do get them into digital output mode? What do I plug in and where? Is there some sort of adapter?

<< someone please either close or change the thread name very confusing and misleading 🙁 >>

yeah, i'll back everyone up on this, i was dissappointed to see they were not 99 bux
bam 🙁

Title isn't confusing when you read all of it and not just "SB Audigy Platinum" and "$99"

This is true!
They should add $159.xx to the title, but if you read it, it doesn't say that the card is $99+ - it says "free shipping on 99+ @buy.com".
People read what they want to read, instead of what it actually says!!
And, most people on here DO KNOW that buy.com has free shipping for orders over $99. right now.

Sorry about the title, guess it could be misleading to someone skimming through the hot deals...changed it now. Hehe, dont i wish the audigy was $99, lol

Try the Hercules GTXP. MUCH better and ~$100
Hercules:
-usb
-external only

Audigy:
-firewire
-internal and external versions
-borg-ish software that does not completely uninstall

BTW: I have both

Buy this at Gateway now and add Age of Empires 2 to get over $200 so you get $50 off with coupon from Bargains site and $20 rebate on the game. Free shipping (you might need to pay tax though) so it's like $155 plus tax and you get $20 more back from rebate so you have $135 plus tax.

Also, whay about getting the Soundblaster Extigy instead since it's like $40 less? It has all the connections as the Audigy I think...

Audigy sucks! Bug ridden crappy sound card. Save yourselves alot of money and buy a TB Santa Cruze, they can be had for about $70 and have been proven to be of higher quality sound.

I've got the Extigy - I believe the only connection missing on the Extigy is the firewire.
