i have some extra parts lying around, and decided to build a system for my girlfriend, but i need a motherboard.

I am a college student, so i have very very little money, so was wondering what's the cheapest and easiest motherboard i can get that will work with a tbird 1.4? i have an asus a7v133 i've tried using, but just can't get an os to stay stable for more than a day or two at a time :(. so i'm looking to buy something nice and simple

i don't need anything special at all; doesn't have to be fast, doesn't need all kinds of special options, i want something very simple (changing motherboard bios's and installing raid drivers has given me headaches - i'm not too good with building comps). so what i want is something i can basically screw in, plug in the drives/cards, install an os, and be all done :)

other equipment is:

40gb ibm hard drive
hercules gf2 64mb gts
512mb of generic sdram
turtle beach santa cruz soundcard

and i plan on using windows xp professional

Yep. K7S5A all the way for an inexpensive system. I've got several here at work with TBird 1.33's in them and they stay on 24-7.

Just make sure your power supply is sufficient or you will have some issues, otherwise they are rock solid.

Here's another vote for the ECS K7S5A .... I picked one up for $80 (CDN) or ~$53 (US) last night and rebuilt my system with a 2200+ on it. (My Celeron 366@550 finally gets to retire).
