My 5 year old would do well with a little desktop for spotify and ABC Mouse / Youtube kids. I don't really want to bother with a build, just want to use a monitor and kbm I have lying around as a quick and easy fit. Best/cheapest option that won't be totally awful? The lg exceed 2 I gave her runs every app she uses well, so I don't think the specs need to be all that impressive.

I would search Google to see if there's any adapters for that phone that will output to a display. Then just a get keyboard and mouse.

You may want to look into a Remix Mini.
They can be had cheaply on Ebay.

I didn't go as far as actually trying to check out, but it looks there's still a sale on the 2GB/16GB model at a "Black Friday" price of $40 with FS, buying more or less direct from them. Even though I did a little more "unnecessary" BF/CM spending on myself than I'd originally planned, I'm kinda tempted to pick up one of these myself partly as a toy, partly to use as a strea"kitchen browser" connected to a TV serving double-duty as its the monitor , at least at the sale price, as much as a "toy" as anything else since, apparently, its performance as more than a streamer is pretty weak...
