Cheapest reliable shipping

I have to RMA my 6800LE to Newegg. It comes in a pretty decent sized box- Newegg shipped the retail box in the long FedEx box.

Would Fedex ground be the best for something like this? It's not that heavy, but the box is pretty big. I'm thinking I can just shove it in the same sized box at my local Fedex. I still have to insure for $300+ too.

another vote for fedex.

ups will get it there - in pieces
usps will get it there - in twice the time or twice the cost (you pick which)

I typically find that if your package is less than 3 pounds, there's no reason not to go for USPS priority mail. I think your video card shouldn't weigh more than 2, including whatever box you ship it with.

I have to use the original box which is fairly large.

When I RMA'd my card to ATi, I just used USPS. Worked well, fast, cheap, and it's easy to get to a post office, instead of going all the way over to the Kinkos.

Go to the USPS website, and check and see how much it will cost with your box measurements to ship priority. I think if its dimensions cover the same area/volume as a standard fedex/usps box, it will be fine, so long as no side is longer than 36 (is this correct?) inches. Anyway, just check on the site to find out.

if you're using usps, what service should you use to protect against problems? first class, or priority? delivery confirmation? or just insurance?

I already have one of those long USPS Priority boxes (same size as Fedex Express box), and it fits in there.

The 6800LE w/box and accessories weighs a bit. I might just do it for convinience sake, but by the time I add insurance and confirmation we're talking $7+. I bought this card to save money. Ah well.

Hopefully the next one I get will be good.

USPS is probably the cheapest, and they'll be just as fast as Fedex or UPS at a lower price point. USPS also has delivery tracking and confirmation available.

It's the new retail version.

I'm sure they want the original packaging back too, especially if they can't replace and have to refund my money.

Sorry to bump this back up, but if you are sending it for RMA you are going to want to check their RMA procedures. I have NEVER had to send any of the extras with an RMA and Usually they say not to as they won't replace that stuff.

But the item I own is OOS. I'd be almost sure they'd want the box back. I'd probably be better dealing with eVGA.

I wonder if Newegg wants the free watch back too?

Don't be silly. Put the card back in an anti static bag and send it back UPS or FedEx ground.

New Egg doesn't need the box or anything back...and they sure as hell don't want that POS watch back...

...must be a rookie...

So you're saying if they can't replace they'll refund even without the original packaging, drivers, dvi-VGA plugs, etc?

? In order for Newegg to effectively process your RMA request it is essential to include everything the product(s) originally shipped with. This may include but is not limited to: manuals, software, cables and the original retail packaging.
