so i used a pos external enclosure, and now my 80 gig maxtor drive is toasted due to overheating. The motor is bad, but the platters are good...is there a way to make my motor run?

well i want to know what's the cheapest price for salvaging data from a bad harddrive...it's just some pictures that i would like to keep.

Data recovery can run into the hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Google "hard drive data recovery" and you'll find a number of companies that can provide quotes.
