Used Carver equipment is rack-mountable, and offers very good quality sound at a low price if you find the right deal, but somehow I doubt this thread is really intended to help goku find equipment.

Hmm, carver, where do I recognize that name? Is Carver a high end brand? I believe I had a Carver Audio reciever as my first reciever ever, it was old, accepted Coaxial and Composite Video, stereo out with quite possibly 4.0 'Surround Sound', the basic stereo kind.. It was damned heavy too, had a remote though so it wasn't that old but I ended up having to give it back to a friend, I dunno what has happened to the reciever since..

Carver is Audiophile equipment, very high end. I mention it because much of their equipment is rack-mountable. I'm always keeping an eye out for used Carver equipment, but it's fairly rare stuff.

For what you're thinking about doing, you're going to have to move up to professional, sound reinforcment equipment. You'll also have to purchase seperate components for processing the video and audio. Consumer grade equipment is built to like nice sitting inside or on top of a piece of furniture out in the open.

Have you gone out and tried some different products? You should really have a good idea of what kind of speakers you're going to get before thinking about your electronics. Whether this is going to be a music setup or a HT setup and whether the speakers you like are going to be very hard to drive are going to be issues you need to figure out before you buy anything.
