Let' see. I have my cable modem downstairs. It's an RCA DCM235. It's connected to the computer. Now, I have an XBOX and a PS2 upstairs, not connected to broadband or anything. I want them to able to use the broadband, to go online when the time comes. Whats the cheapest, and most effiecent way to do this?

Thanks a bunch to anybody who replies.

run cable and wall plates. dirt cheap and highest speed. not the easiest thing to do though.

Problem is if you don't know what you're doing, you can really ruin your walls. Wireless has really come down in price (802.11b routers are less than $100 now, wireless NIC's are less than $50). It'll be the cheapest in the longrun because you don't have to pay for a contractor to fix your plaster/drywall :)

Just buy a wireless? Whats the cheapest one?

Also, for the other method, would I have to run it through the walls, or could I just put it on the floor, and hide it with the carpet? Do I need CAT cables or something?

If you can I would try to go with CAT 5. There are all sorts of ways you can run it through the walls provided you don't mind investing some "Harry Homeowner" skills and hours. If not I guess wireless is the way to go.
