I remember a few years ago when i bought some RAM i got charged customs duties for "importing an electronic component" and this took away any dicount i received from buying in the States.
Any comments?
there is an easy way to get around this and most US retailers are more than willing to do it, just to get your business.
They simply market the package as a low value gift (assuming the item is being sent via USPS)and it will not incure any levi's or taxes when it enters Australia.
I've found that a retailer will usually overcharge me on the shipping by a small bit, but I accept that it's the price I must pay to get my item sent to me in around 5 days and with out having to pay extra once it get's here.
USPS also has a cool tracking setup on their website which lets me keep track of the package every step of the way.
It's as easy as that.
