Cheaper alternatives to Quietpc.com components?

I want to get hold of some this kit but have you seen the prices?!?! I'm not paying £54 for a PSU. So anyway do reasonably priced equivalents exist? I'm looking for a PSU and heatsink for an AMD Thunderbird. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

An Enermax fan adjustable PS would probably do the trick, and for a heatsink, a pal8045 with a panalofa L1A would be awesome.

Thanks, but the Enermax PSUs aren't any cheaper than the ultra quiet ones at quietpc.com. I'd feel cheated spending all that money on something which isn't going to allow me to do anything which I can't already do now. I'm not a cheapskate, I'd just rather save my money for something which will actually make a difference to my setup like a 3D GFX card, hard drive etc etc.

What's your opinion of the Mini Chrome Orb Socket A? They seem quiet to me. I'm looking for something which I don't have to build myself because firstly I wouldn't know where to start with that and secondly I'd end up setting myself on fire, lol

I agree with the Alpha heat sink, but go with the papst fan. You can get them reasonable from www.plycon.com. I can barely hear mine.

Buying a Papst fan would require getting separate components and modding them myself wouldn't it? I can never seem to find Papst PSUs/heatsinks so I'm assuming they only make the fan part so you have to scan through the specs list to see what you're actually getting?

to quiet your PSU... replace the fan. Very easy and cheap.

Now you're just teasing me, lol. Could you direct me to a tutorial of some sort please? I've always been told never to open the PSU and meddle with it myself because it's highly dangerous?

I'd be interested in this as well, I have an antec 300 watt ps but it doesn't seem all that quiet so anything I could do to help would be appreciated.
