Is this site still recommended? If not, who's the best bargain host right now? I could use one.

The problems that I posted about in May cleared up shortly thereafter, and they were responsive when I opened a trouble ticket about my Gallery installation.

Anyone remember Telnap? I found that host a few years ago on here.. I'm still paying some 14.95 a year to host my site 😀

Cookiehost has been a great relief after dealing with netfirms slow speeds, constant outages and subpar cs. I have had them since march and have had no outages other than a total of 3 hours for server upgrades. Download speeds are great which I need for hosting maps for a cs:s server. Recommended 🙂

It'll be interesting to see how their performance keeps up over time. I heard about them at WebHostingTalk, but I was concerned about the lowball price and risk of overselling. That was before I saw the RossMAN seal of approval!

Just signed up for cookiehost.com 'el cheapo plan.

Me too. They say on the first page that it isn't automatically renewed to the $39.95 per year thing, I have to authorize it. I hope that's true!

Would you please post something on my behalf in two CookieHost.com threads? I have NEVER "RECOMMENDED" CookieHost.com, it was merely a SUGGESTION for cheap web hosting. You get what you pay for. Quality web hosting starts at $10/mo:

no idea why this was necro'd lol

But i've used it since may 08, rough for 2months, and smooth ever since.

It appears that this deal is dead, but I got in on it last November, and my opinion after using them for a year:

1. The communication from cookiehost is extremely good. They always respond to your inquiries within a few hours.
2. The first few months of the service were spotty, with the server seemingly shutting itself down at night (not good at all). It would respond eventually, but obviously that's not good for a website.
3. They said they changed/fixed servers after about May, and the service was really good after that.

I let my account expire when renewal came up. The Maxi-plan that I was on would cost $100 to renew and that's just too much for the site I was running on it.

I would recommend cookiehost.com if you can get a discounted deal.

Signed dad up for Maxi deal with 50% off coupon, let's see how it goes.. can't be any worse than rebelnetworks.
