I am looking at online retailers and I see a Biostar board, an Asus A8V, and some Foxconn stuff.

any suggestions or bias or brands that I should stay away from?

I'm not going to be doing any overclocking. Tforce series? I can't find that anywhere, all I see is the biostar board with the built in video.

I need it to be PCI-E

Hi Blip,

my personal bias is to stay away from VIA chipsets, based on past experience.

I think the NForce 4, either SLI or plain are best--well tested, bugs worked out now, etc. And, looks like they are trying to clear out inventory on these.

Here is a list of boards on Newegg:

All have at least one PCIeX16 slot: on board video is easy to disable in the BIOS.

Deleted Jetway, northbridge fan, which is annoying....Foxconn NF4U, same......NF4K, same...sounds like the "FUK/U/4A.....

So, one of these three: none have northbridge fan, all should work fine:

More expensive, but, rock solid, will last a long time:
