here's a hot deal: go to USC and major in CS or CECS (computer engineering and computer science and yes, it is pronounced like sex) and MS gives you WinXP pro and Visual Studio .Net for free. the downside: you get brainwashed pro-microsoft =)

the other downside: you go to USC. 'nuff said 😉

Hey this is a hot deal thread, not a school flame war thread. If you want to break it out I can go on about the sheer stupidity of your ilk.

From Davenport University I got Windows 2000 pro, server, advance server, exchange server. Love the Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance

bummer... and hey there are fine girls, one or two... just gotta find them.

Can students from one school get it from a different school ? or can one student give it to another student ?

Wondering if the MS legal begals have this nailed down or if they take a "student friendly" stance.

thanks

we got no deal here at LSU :|

LSU isnt typically too quick with technology.
They like to waste money. Do we really need flat panels in the CEBA computer that is only used for internet surfing basically.

Man, got 4 copies of XP Pro Full Version for $29.75 each and now I'm gonna get 4 copies of Office XP for the same. I tell ya, if vendors would keep the pricing lower, copying software wouldn't be as common.

Windows xp, office xp, and frontpage2002 are only $5 at Purdue. Visual Studio .NET is $10.

Anyone have the link to get solidworks for $15?

Thanks
Garrett.

Dang, I don't think they have anything like that here at Illinois. I just got a flyer for XP Windows and Office for ~$60. :| I'm gonna call them and see if they're pricematch Purdue. 😀

Just found out that Chico State sells WinXP and OfficeXP for $29.75 each. Whoo hoo!

Do they do it at all Cal State Universitys? Where did you go to ask about yours? Thanks

I saw Office XP Standard in the campus bookstore for over $170...does that mean they aren't doing this program, or do I have to ask someone about it?
Because the campus bookstore is open to the public, it's virtually certain that only the normal "universal educational" price is listed. That $170 was about the same as what Sam's Club sold the educational OfficeXP for. You'll probably have to ask around. In some cases, there might be only a department or class that gets the discount. I remember someone telling me about an IT class they were taking that let them buy additional MS stuff for $60 or so whereas that same item at the student discount price was about $110 at their bookstore.

It's beyond me as to why the University of Washington doesn't give away all kinds of MS software unless you're in the computer science department. Electrical engineers need computers too!
