Cheap Software for College Students

I am sure you are all aware of this but for those who aren't, here you go. You should check with your school and see if they participate in the Microsoft Education Enterprise Agreement software program. I just got Office XP pro and Windows XP for $15 each through UMBC. Just wanted to let you all know.

UT-Austin has a MS agreement as well - $5/CD for MS products.

In addition, I believe the Campus Computer store is selling Mac OS X 10.2 for $20, so great deal for us Longhorns.

I saw Office XP Standard in the campus bookstore for over $170...does that mean they aren't doing this program, or do I have to ask someone about it?

There's an ACS Software Distribution Program, but Windows XP is running for $130.... gay.

Not the bookstore. Usually they are available in the IT or Computer Engineering departments.

I don't think it's legit for non students as most schools put the cost of the agreement into the student's tuition.

here's a hot deal: go to USC and major in CS or CECS (computer engineering and computer science and yes, it is pronounced like sex) and MS gives you WinXP pro and Visual Studio .Net for free. the downside: you get brainwashed pro-microsoft =)

UCSD here too. There is no MS agreement at our college. The bookstore tries to take as much money from us as possible, only buy from them if you don't mind paying more. Please feel free to complaint.

Mind you, our school is a great school.... educationwise... but student benefits leaves much to be desired.

Well Texas A&M is getting the same deal as UT this fall for only $5.00 per cd key/software. But for business INFO majors you can get Windows XP, Windows 2000 PRo, Visio PRo, Visual Studio 6.0, Universal, Visual J++ 6.0, and VisualStudio.net for free from the website Text.

Just click on the MSDN download, and enter in your sid and dob.

wow didn't know so many ucsd students on this forum

4th year marshall student here...i think it was sophmore year that they were giving away win2k for free and i believe they did the same for office xp and windows xp but you had to know where it was and when.

usually it is in APM, so keep your eyes out

UT-Arlington has the same deal as UT-Austin. Too bad M$ didn't release WinXP for the students at the computer center before I graduated in December. :disgust: It was supposed to be available mid-October. I harassed the heck out of 'em until the very last day.
