whats a inexpensive reliable motherboard, no overclocking,
if u could list two one with onboard video and one without, both with onboard sound
and whats inexpensive ram i want 512, should i go 2x256 or 1x512
thanks

To be honest, I've never had a major problem with an Albatron board. Gigabyte boards also are very stable at stock speeds. However, EVERY Biostar board I've gotten has been a POS and was set back for an Albatron or Gigabyte replacement. Crucial RAM is good, Kingston is good, Corsair is good....just be sure to get a name brand and it should be good 🙂

Edit: You can get 1GB of PQI on Newegg for like $79 now I think

MSI has a nice board with onboard video. Then for without onboard video the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra and Epox's NF4 Ultra board are both great. The Epox i better, but more expensive too.

basicaly what im trying to do is build a cheap reliable system for my mom, shes looking at one from dell for around 700 dollars and i want to see if i could build her one for less. she surfs the web on dial-up, and does cad drawings for her work. she has to have a cd-burner and some sort of nic. any suggestions or questions please included xp pro and office (with word and exel) in prices thanks

well office alone is going to set you back $300+ for full verstion retail edition, and windows xp pro is between $139.00 for full version oem to $299 for full version retail edition.
