cheap reliable backup??

looking at 100GB's plus.. so I'm guessing tape backup? How long do they usually last in storage, and how well can they hold up against adverse temps and accidental "dropping"?

Thanks

I'm not sure what kind of "accidental dropping" you were planning on doing, but I for one would keep them on the floor.....

You're lookint at DLTIV (40GB Native, 80GB Compressed) or LTO (100GB Native, 200GB Compressed). I drop DLT tapes all the time and haven't had any problems. Be prepared to spend some big bucks here - 2.5K+ for the drives, $70/ea for DLTIV tapes, $150/ea for LTO tapes.

by dropping, i meant if it was dropped of the desk by someone or something. Basically, don't want anything that is extremely delicate.

That must be some heavy duty stuff... got any links? I don't think the person I was askin this for was goin for something quite THAT much 🙂
