Well the issue I think I'll run into is the fact that Navigation audio likely won't come through the car speakers unless I'm on the Bluetooth Audio input, which would mean no USB audio will be playing.

I haven't actually confirmed that, I'll have to try even listening to radio and trying the nav. Perhaps I'm wrong.

Ah, I get what you're saying now. I was thinking about navigating with your phone through BT *and* listening to music from the second phone through BT at the same time, which I'm pretty sure wouldn't work.

I think you're right, you won't have BT audio come through the speaker if you're listening to music from USB.

However, ideally I'll be able to have a good phone with 64 or 128GB built in (or expandable) sometime in the not so distant future, which will help give me enough space to have local music that fits most of my moods.

Yeah, that seems to be the best solution for you. Personally I thought about the same thing, getting a phone that does everything I need that has a large space to store my media, but with my usage (which is slightly different than yours) I ended up carrying a second device strictly to listen to music and some games (whether it's another phone or an iPod) and have my primary phone for everything else.

I guess what I was after was to use this while on vacation in the UK. Looking for an unlocked phone to buy outright and use as a pay as you go (prepaid) hotspot for the Apple TV (3rd gen) I am taking with me. I have an iPhone 5, but thought some last minute unlock options would be worth investigating--even if buying the handset in the UK for use as described.
