Cheap PCI Express Solution

If someone is in need of a cheap PCI Express solution and only has 47 bucks to spend and doesn't want the hassle of a rebate, this is the best deal right now it seems. Getting this is better than getting a budget 2000HD or 8000 series or any other budget card from any prior series of course.

oh yeah, you have to subscribe to new newsletter and the promo number is EMC1023VGA01

link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...Cards-_-E2M-_-14133155

No, it still works- just tried it one second ago. You have to enter the code and be subscribed to their email newsletter thing (which is where i saw the deal). Too bad that Fry's ran out of the 7600GT- now that was a hot deal!

its not really that great a deal. its warm i'd say

that is a 6800 non ultra, which is more or less equiavalent to a 6600gt. and 8500gt would beat it so if you can find a 8500gt on a rebate it might be better.

How does this compare to a ATI X1550 PCIe 256 MB Video Card?

I saw several at Best Buy for $38 each...

These have dual DVI.

x1550 is an x1300 with higher clocks. its a 4 pipe hyper memory card.

it uh..s ucks. this would be faster.

and this is an older card so it should still be moddable to quadro. the 7 series is when quadro modding got killed.

Thanks for the feedback. I will take it back as I thought it was too good to be a true deal (marked down from $130....).

$51.95 for CA residents. 6800 = 6600GT, and 6600GTs are usually around less than $30 on ebay.
This deal lasts for all over october, 7300LE for $20AR. http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4890990
I bought one at the store so I don't know what shipping is. I haven't powered it on yet so I don't know how noisy the HSF is. I could probably take a giant heatsink and some how passively cool it. Of course the 6800 will be a more powerful card. This one has DVI, VGA, and S-video (no breakout).

lollies was told to go to this post for cheap card.. well i see 7800gt's for 80$ and 7600gts for less than 60.. nto sure what the price was suppose to be but its damn near what i spent on a 6800 years and years ago.. gotta love how the old hardware is so overpriced.. you will even find some openbox cpu's for double what they should be at.. btw 6800 sux dont even consider it with all the newer cards around.. bought a 7900gt for wifes pc to replace the 50$ x850xtpe she had in it..

I see a 7600GT for 75 and a 7600 gs for 70.. the previously mentioned 7600GT Fry's deal is over and was a one time thing.. can't get a 7800GT anymore or an x800 series except through ebay and used.. and even so to get one for 47 dollars doesn't seem possible...The newer cards in the same price range as this card are inferior by a long shot. The x1600 series suggestion makes sense for 7 dollars more http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814131068

For waht is offered now the only thing comparable is the x1650. so unless you have links to a 7800gt, x850xtpe 7600GTS for 50 dollars...

It's really hard to find a replacement under $100 for a X850... those cards are still pretty beastly and you can find them used for as little as $50. I got mine over a year ago for $90 used, and it still runs anything I throw at it fine (although not on max settings for newer games).

The X800 series of cards doesn't support SM 3.0 which by today's standards makes them far inferior to the 6800 series. SM 3 is a must at this point.

just tried to apply the promo code and buy it and nothing happened.. says 0.00 and the price of 92.99 +12$ship/tax!! if you are talking about just a few $$ more just go for the 7900gs for 90$ deals you see on here i decided for a few more than that get teh 7900gt and oc it but it came oc'd stock i guess when i got it :>

on the x850xtpe note.. ya no sm3.0 if you have set games you want to play they prob wont need it (i like the new c&C) but if you want the newest and any new game to work get sm3.0 but 6800 aint the best choice even if it was 47$ SHIPPEd. 6800gt's/7600gt pcie are 50-60$ shipped at most

A 6800NU is roughly equivalent to a 6600GT in gaming. Sure it will support SM3, but running a game that requires SM3 will be a slideshow at anything below lowest settings...

Performance #s from 3 years ago (I'll take my "far inferior" X850 XT any day):

My point is that if your primary use will be gaming, a 6800 NU is a poor choice at this point in time. For basic usage this deal is good if you need more than integrated.

For gaming and HTPC usage, this card is not ideal. For an HTPC a HD2400/HD2600 or 8600 range card would be a much better choice due to the upgraded feature sets.

As far as SM 3.0 being a *must*, I have not yet run into a game that refuses to run... recent ones I've played/tried are Unreal 3 Beta, World in Conflict, TF2, HL2 Ep.2, Hellgate: London Beta.

Again, at this budget point SM 3.0 support is irrelevant..

I would love to see a link for a new 7600GT for 50-60 dollars including shipping as I need a video card for a friend's build. I cannot find one for under 80 dollars. Link please?

edit: The code is sitll working as I just tried it a second ago.. not sure why you guys are having trouble with it. Are you on Newegg's email list?

Makes an awesome "stop gap" or temp card until the new 8800GT comes out in a few days. As far as finding something comparable in the same price range, you wont. This deal is warm, even if it doesn't have the newest feature set.

$48 shipped for this card without any rebates isn't quite as good as the 7600GT for $57ish after rebate from Frys, but I personally am sick of dealing with rebates. I've sent out too many and they have been declined for various stupid reasons...
