Cheap, passive cooled intel atom/cel/pent microATX, DDR3 for Linux?

Intel seems to have 20+ different low-power desktop CPUs out right now.

I'm looking for a microATX board with included passively-cooled CPU that:
- Supports Linux (probably Mint Mate)
- Has integrated video with usable Linux drivers (basic desktop use, not gaming)
- Uses desktop DDR3 since I have some lying around

This would be for a music jukebox, I only need USB 2 and a couple of SATA ports.

Any recommendations?

Celeron J1900 is Bay Trail. Even though there is more support for Bay Trail than there was a year ago, and it's finally getting better I'm pretty sure Linux and Bay Trail still don't mix well. A lot of manual configuration just to get it mostly kind of working. Sort of.

Are you trying to build a completely passive system, or just a relatively quiet one?

If the latter, I'd just get a normal desktop mobo, a "big core" Celeron, underclock it a bit and put on a big honkin' heat sink with the fan turned down. Or take the fan off the HS and just use a rear case fan with a little duct work. (A 3D printer is a solution looking for a problem.)

If the former, I think you still want a "big core" CPU for proper Linux support, but will probably be happiest with one of those passively cooled "industrial" NUCs.

A good PSU is silent these days at low loads, so I just liked the idea of a cheap motherboard + CPU combo that's also silent. A big core combo + big cooler would cost twice as much and the fan will need to be replaced eventually.

True, you can't always get what you want :)

I already have a Raspberry Pi 3b to play with, I'll try that first. If it's not good enough for the jukebox then I'll consider the $150-200 for a big-core combo.
