Well, the cheapest magazine subscriptions are of course the free ones, and I've got a number of those from this site. (Like here.)
But several of my favorite magazines have never appeared in any "for free" offers ("Time" is one), and whether I receive the freebies can be hit & miss. Here is one way to get most mainstream magazines at a good discount.

Barnes & Noble sells magazines at prices that are pretty low to start with--usually at least as low as the mailer inserts in the magazines, and as low as other book & magazine sites. bn.com accepts flooz, they always have great coupons out, and they are a member of ebates. So you could...

--use the "send $75, earn $25" flooz deal. Do this with yourself (or family member, etc.) each way, and you have $200 in value for $150.

--use the "$10 off $30" coupon that is out right now for bn.com. There always seems to be one of these available. They also have multiple $10 off $40 coupons.

--apply ebates 5%.

So theoretically, you can get 33% off the total order, then take 5% off that total, and pay for it with $3 on every $4. That gives a total of 52.5% off your order--which is a pretty decent savings. You won't quite achieve that, as it assumes a number of orders at exactly $30, and that $200 is evenly divisible by $30, but you get the idea.

Btw, bn.com has a special section right now for freebies included with magazine subscriptions. Click "free with subscription" after clicking on the magazines tab on the front page.

Please submit your own magazine hot deals, as I haven't seen a thread on this in awhile.

I seem to recall this site offered many more $5.95 choices a few years ago than now (perhaps I'm wrong). I've never tried this service; just presenting it for information sake. $5.95/yr for many popular mags.

Has anyone tried this service?

re/ using coupons at Barnes & Noble for magazines, for as long as I can remember they have explicitly said at their site that subscriptions do no qualify for any sort of coupon discount. I can also remember trying it a few times---it worked once, but not on subsequent attempts. If someone knows for a fact that coupons still work for subscriptions there, please post that.

I have oredered a bunch of titles from www.discountmagazines.com and provided you don't mind a VERY long wait before your subscription begins, it's a great deal on many mainstream titles. Last year they sent me an email offering Time & Newsweek for a limited period at thier deepest discount rate of $5.95/yr (not their usual price for those) and I grabbed it. Not free, but for 50 issues---I'll bite!

ktg, I got some subscriptions last month with a B&N coupon with no problems. However, the coupon codes are new every month, so it's entirely possible that their use could vary.

"Asian Fever"--sorry, can't help you. I would personally do a metacrawler.com and a deja.com/usenet search, but I've never even heard of that mag.

Just received a mailing about my US Air miles... you're able to redeem them for mag subscriptions - 300 to 700 or so points for a year. They had around a hundred listed, so if you have those...

Jd,
Thanks for the link. It's 5.95. But you have to pay for 6 subscripton to be eligible. It has to add up to $29.99
