I just saw in Price Club/Costco and saw some cheap deals for a set of Lava + Glitter lamps for $20. I never seen a glitter lamp in action but it's the same shape except for glittering flakes inside. I saw a previous post in lava lamps before and received some response, so I figure some of you might be interested.

Not to crap on your hot deal but $20 is about average for the faux lava-glitter lamps. They're made of all plastic and don't last quite as long as lava lamps. :)

I bought my lava lamp at Glow for $19.99. That is the going price and is no deal. Let alone, I would not trust Costco to have quality lava lamps.

You are crapping on his thread and spreading misinformation. If you re-read what he wrote you will notice he said it is a SET, a Lava lamp AND a glitter lamp. Pretty good deal...

HEheh...I miss the old original Lava lamps...you know, if you needed potholders(no pun intended) to pick one up because they were so freaking hot.

Now because of saftey, they barely get hot.....oh well. :)

The downside of lava lamps is they use a lot of juice. I had one on for a whole month and my power bill was about $20 higher than average...:(

charliebrown - dude my lamp is a standard 100w buld. Maybe it runs an extra $5 a month if I left it on all the time. You should check your lamp for a short or something. :(

Costco has name brands? Yeah right. In your book, Kirkland may be a name brand but not in mine is that a name brand. Once in awhile they'll carry a few good items but we as a bargain hunter, we can get it cheaper majority of the time.

Hey, Kirkland is an awesome name brand! Don't think that just because it is cheaper it is not so good! Some things are better bought by name brand, but for most Kirkland rocks! And my name is Kirkland, so I should know!

Kirkland is their store brand, but Costco doesn't manufacture anything. What company in the world could process film, bake bread, make facial tissues, and then raise chickens all in the same factory? Kirkland cookies, of all types, for example, are Pilsbury. Kirkland chicken breasts are Tyson. It's the same type of thing that Sears does with the Kenmore series of appliances--those are all for the most part manufactured by Whirlpool.
The reason they are cheap is because Costco carries all of the costs associated with distribution (since they only deal with their warehouses) and buy millions of tons of lava lamps at once.

I for one will be checking out this hot deal this weekend when I go buy some Kirkland (aka Kingsford) Charcoal.

Actually Costco does some of there manufacturing. I work there and they just put out a newsletter where they are having them set up in certain warehouses so the customer can see how things are done. We carrry both name brands and the kirkland. Every company nowadays has a private label because of the bigger profit margin. Just gives you more of a choice.

Hey don't forget their batteries. Consumer reports rated them high because they lasted a long time and cost lower than competitors. They even said they might be Duracell, hey where can you get long lasting batteries for around $11 for 48.

Granted I am not a lava lamp expert, these I have seen look just like the ones in boutique stores in the mall going for 3 times the price for just one. The set is either in red or green.
