Cheap Internet Hosting

I'm looking for a cheap internet host to host a my web site. I also need to register a domain name a all the good stuff like that. This will be the first time I've ever done my own website (and probably don't know what i'm doing). So could you help me out? Like were to get sever? were to get domain name? and stuff like that...(and other pointers too).

I was thinking one of these?

How fast would 250GB of bandwith be eaten up in? Could I host internet games like CS off of it? (and one more thing) should I use Linux or windows sever?

Try Godaddy's low-end offering. They may not be DIRT cheap, but they aren't bad. The tools are good, Godaddy is reputable, and there's decent customer service.

Domain name registration is about $10 per year and, as I recall, you can get Windows-based web hosting (or Linux-based, if you want), for about $4 a month with their low-end package.

Once you get started and get the site going, you can always move it to some bargain-basement place if that's what you want. But if you don't know what you are doing, it's probably better to spend a few extra bucks in the beginning for an easier-to-use host.

You're right, GoDaddy's hosting it not dirt cheap, it's cheaper than dirt. 🙂

1) Register domain with NameCheap.com for $8.88/yr with FREE WhoisGuard protection for 1st year.

2) Contact DeviousTrap regarding his FREE WEB HOSTING OFFER or read this.

3) Your web host will e-mail your account details including your DNS name servers. Login to NameCheap's web site, change your domains DNS name servers to your web hosts, wait 20 minutes - 24 hours for DNS propagation.

4) You're done.

Should take about 20 minutes if you're going really slow.

I know about 6 sites that were setup with doteasy.com. They offer different plans, but a free one for 25$ a year and they aren't add based. They have some good tools and seem reasonable. I don't like godaddy's homepage - to cluttered

1and1 is what I use for hosting. The cheap package is only $3/month (year subscription), gives 5GB webspace, and 250GB transfer. Also includes 1 free domain. For $5/month you get double that, plus extra tools. Control panel for admin stuff isn't too bad either.

ok first of all
cs/ game servers arent provided by most of these companies.
If you want really good hosting there is a host rating site that has the top ones u can goole for list top internet hosts or something.
Also 250GB /month is typically more than one domain and small website would ever use.
I own my own server in a data center and im yet to use more than 150 GB/month and i host 2 cs servers and about 12 websites of the box.

woot woot
