A better deal....

If you are a college student, check to see if you have some sort of deal with your college. At my college, I get a $25 credit each month for one service, $50 for two, and $75 for three.

We do better than that on a DSL connection with a higher speed. Not much of a deal.

Let me guess- you signed up to peddle the deal?

Please do share details if you're going to rain on the parade. I'd like to get a better deal on high-speed internet than what the OP has stated! If it can't be done, then this is a good deal. 🙂

Forum rules won't let me promote companies I work for, but do a DSL search- you'll find a lot of better deals on high speed access.

OK I am a liitle confused by people saying better deals can be found. Maybe, but what is better than free Cable internet for 6 months? That's what the OP's deal is. Six months at 19.99 is approximately 120.00 There is a 125 MIR you send in after the first bill and you get the 125 in 10-16 weeks, Also the modem is FAR. The only thing better than this deal would be a longer duration of "free" or more money back in the rebate.

When I first started with broadband 3 years ago I did a similar deal through Staples.com and got cable for 6 months for 19.99 and a 130.00 MIR that I submitted after my first bill. I didn't get a free modem, so I consider this a better deal than I had.
Please chime in if you have comments.

One thing to do is call a company like Comcast and let the rep know that you are interested in their deals. We did this when we moved into our new place, and our local rep would call us back with "deals". I turned down a few until she came up with our current package:

49.99/Month for 12 months
Expanded Cable TV with Comcast On Demand with HBO channels
768 up/3.0 down Cable internet

I couldn't be happier, but I'm not sure what we will do in 6 months when they will want $120 + a month for this service...

I was a lurker for a long time. Now I'm probably making 1.5 posts/day.

Anyway, no Comcast service in San Diego! Boo. I have to either go with Time Warner or AT&T and I don't really want either.

A rate at which some will still think you're a lurker 🙂

For the last year+ Comcast has been slowly taking over my cable from Adelphia
Neither website will cover my area, when i call Comcast they will only offer me crappy deals.
🙁

And another lurker....

Anyways, goatface, are you in the northern virginia area? That's what's happening to me here, but I already had Adelphia

Aw, nyker stole my line.

By the way, Lurkers were great for dropping on top of enemy bases next to the mineral gatherers. Have a couple of empty Overlords lead the way, drop some Hydras/Zergling, and burrow the Lurkers. Yay for income deficit!

Not if the guy is smart enough to build some anti-air turrets around the minerals. but then again I always forget ... damn lurkers :]

also lurkin... i called in and threatened to cancel service & comcast gave me better terms. will do the same when this "promotional period" is over.

wow had no idea what a lurker was until this thread. I usually like to read threads to get info and ask questions if necessary. This deal is the best I could find in my city, I know the trick about calling a service rep, but this was a deal where I wouldn't have to deal with salesmen on the phone for an hour. After the six months is up I will most likely say I am gonna cancel because I'm a poor college student and hopefully continue to get the same deal. Cheers to finding deals and Loopholes to get great prices!

Hi, my name is Uwe and I am a member of lurker's anonymous. I lurk for deals...when my wife let's me have the money I work all day for while she stays at home...
