I dropped them a friendly little email letting them know that I expect them to take the $3.71 off my CC..if they don't, then I will dispute with my CC company. I bet they will never respond!!

I have editted my above posts because I feel I did over react to a situation. I was pleasantly surprised that my email was answered so quickly and that they were willing to over compensate for their error. If I receive the refund, then I will definetly deal with these guys again. They made a mistake and have owned up to it and seem to be willing to make the amends...bravo to MonterInk.com!!![]()

At that price it's generic. OTOH, it's time for you to upgrade that printer to a i850 $89 refurb at outpost.com) or a i560 ($99 at Sams) or if you're really on a budget Staples is closing out the i550s for $69 and look for a coupon on thin wallet(cough). I'd get the i560 or the i850 though.

I'm in the same boat as you, JoeCool. I bought my 550 when it came out on a Hot Deal here for $150. Its a good printer-lightyears better than the Epsons I've owned in the past-but its a real bummer to see it for one-third the price in less than a year.
They are fine, just like any other generic ink I had used before. I honestly can't tell the difference in quality between generic and OEM ink.Originally posted by: joecool

<a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,111767,00.asp" target=blank>Scary PC World article about generic ink</A>. This is from the issue on news stands right now. It says generic ink produces quality prints but tends to fade and clog print heads. This is not the propoganda that printer companies give you -- they did some research on various inks. Personally I have used generic ink for some time and have noticed both the fading and the clogging. It has never deterred me in the past, but now that I have several Epson inkjets that seem picky about the ink (and that don't include print heads in the cartridges), I think I am going to switch back to OEM ink.
Blah.. who cares when someone can get a Cannon I320 for like $25 AR. The freakin thing's disposable. I can understand someone would be timid when they use $1 generic ink on their spiffy new I850, but seriously.. some of us doesn't really care if it clogs it up after 10 carts of generics.
Retail Black ink costs about $6
Generic Blacks $1.50
For 10 carts, you save $45
Cost of printer $30 AR
So you'll be saving yourself $15 even if the printhead craps out on 11th cart.
