You can get an aftermarket HSF later on if you wish to OC. And I think if you give up overclocking and get an h61 m-ATX board, you can even bump it up to a gtx 570.

:thumbsup: To this build, it's very good. The combo has expired though, so you can swap it out with the i5 2500K + P8P67-M for a similar cost. And no, wuliheron the -M isn't a "low quality" board.

You still don't know if the guy needs a monitor, keyboard, or anything else yet you insist your build is cheap enough for him. It isn't me you have to convince fool.

Given what the OP has listed in his build, I think it's safe to assume that he doesn't need OS, KB, or mouse until we hear something different from the OP.

As much as I respect your posts mfenn, assumption is the mother of all fuckups, especially when it comes to technical issues where every detail counts. The only thing aphelion has proven to me is that he is capable of posting a good selection of parts, willing to interpret my posts Willy Nilly, and willing to make accusations at the drop of a hat.

In a forum environment, we rarely anything fully-specified, so we wouldn't get anything done if we waited for everything to be spelled out. How this, post a $800 build including system, monitor, mouse, keyboard the OP will have a good choice either way.

You mean in this forum in particular you rarely have anything fully specified. In other forums I know of people such as yourself who are willing to provide expert advice seldom choose to do so unless the op demonstrates a willingness to provide detailed specifications. In some sense you are enabling these people to continue posting these vague descriptions of what they want and enable others to continue making wild accusations. That is your choice, but don't even pretend it is not your choice or that you somehow feel sorry for others willing to point out the social dysfunction.

That was never the crux of your posts. Your posts were not about the OP being not specific; they were about the appropriateness of building an i5 based system based upon the OPs budget. Now that you have been proven wrong, it does you no credit to try to spin your previous responses.

So promoting more posts is a higher priority for you then helping people get the exact advice they really need. I can understand that with a message board just trying to get established where you might not have as much mature help as you'd like and, certainly, aphelion doesn't strike me as particularly mature. Still, do you really think it isn't even worth the effort of trying now?

Aphelion has been very constructive in this thread IMHO, whereas you have not. Aphelion even asked the OP to be more specific. He then invested time creating builds when the OP didn't respond so that people would be able to get an idea of what $800 buys. If he was mistaken, it's no skin off your (or anybody besides aphelion's) nose.

You can't prevent anyone else from responding to threads in which the OP doesn't meet your quality standards. You can prevent yourself from responding to a thread that doesn't meet your standards. Let's just agree to disagree here: you post in the threads that meet your standard, and I'll post in the threads that meet my standard.

Or decided to look elsewhere for real advice. The cookie cutter advice I see here is little better then you can find checking any custom PC website. If you want real customization for real professionals or real DIY then I suggest the Steam hardware forums. They'll demand you be explicit about what you want, and only then provide recommendations. Here, you've got two yoyos giving you cookie cutter advice and claiming they are the experts. For most online idiots its enough.
