Lately I've been buying whole rotisserie chickens and that lasts me about 4 meals... as a side you can just make ramen or rice and some quick teriyaki sauce.

i am not sure if mwilding is referring to the same sort of curry i make all the time.
here goes mine.

ingridients : curry paste or powder (you can get them from asian grocery stores, i reccomend S&B), onions, carrots, potatoes, meat (i prefer chicken breasts or tenerloins) and veggies of your choice (mushrooms also work well)
i just use can of mixed veggies tho, peeling potatoes can be a PITA 🙂

instructions
1)cut everything into cubes
2)roast meat in a pot till it is cooked - you dont need oil for this, meat has enough of its own
3)add water, i say about as much as you would put in for ramen
4)throw in all the veggies you cut in cubes in step 1)
5)simmer till water starts boiling
6)remove the pot and add curry and mix well
7)simmer again stirring occasionally
8)done when the past is thick enough
9)pour it on top of rice and serve

huh? I get them on sale for $1.75 for the box and the beef is only $2 and it will last you for more than 2 meals depending on how much you eat at a time. Coupons kick ass.

right, but thats as unhealthy as dog food. add some apples, add carrots, add this and that, then it wont look as cheap. my diet plan is healthier than anyone i know and i manage to keep it low cost and hassle-free. dont you tell you only it that and nothing else; if so, i feel sorry for your poor body 😱

i would rather get chicken breasts from kroeger - <$9 and lasts for 10+ meals.

I don't even eat it once a month as I'm not squeezed on my grocery budget and I am also still in my young, high-metalobism stage in life so I don't really care what I eat (I love pizza, red meat, and beer!), but I'm just trying to say it's not expensive.

And if you buy lean beef, it's not all that bad either.

Bratwurst + GF Grill = YUM.

Buy bratwurst, green bell pepper, white onions, and hotdog rolls.

Chop Green bell pepper and white onions
Sauté both veggies in pan (add a teaspoon of margarine for taste)

Grill bratwurst on the GF grill.

Put bratwurst and veggies in roll.
Eat. 🙂

Here are some Chicken/Turkey breast recipes:
(as I posted in another thread)
Primary:
Pre-cooked Butterball turkey breast (or you can buy chicken breast and cook it in boiling water).
Flour tortilla

Secondary:
Romain leaves (again, available pre-cut and cleaned in "ReadyPak")
Caesar salad dressing
croutons
Parmesan cheese

-- mix all ingredients together and wrap in flour tortilla to make Chicken Caesar salad wrap
OR
-- mix ingredients together (without tortilla) to make Chicken Caesar salad
OR
-- mix ingredients together without tortilla and chicken to make Caesar salad

---------
Primary:
Pre-cooked Butterball turkey breast (or you can buy chicken breast and cook it in boiling water).
Flour tortilla

Secondary:
Kraft (or your preferred brand) Barbecue sauce
Butter or margarine
Kraft Mexican mix cheese (or cheese of your choice)
Chopped Red onions (optional)
Salsa (optional)

-- get flour tortilla
-- lightly butter one side of tortilla
-- put a few strips of chicken (on the buttered side)
-- add a bit of cheese
-- add some onions
-- spread some BBQ sauce
-- fold tortilla in half
-- heat in pan (no oil) to your liking (e.g., brown, golden brown, until cheese melts
-- Eat with salsa (optional)

Or
-- do process above but don't add any chicken (it'll just be a cheese quesidilla).

Hmmm... no one's suggested yet: buy what's on sale at a really good price, especially if you have a coupon for it.
Base your meal plans on the sales fliers for the week.
Shop at discount grocery stores such as Aldi's
Stock up on non-perishable's when they're really cheap.
i.e. last week, Hunt's spaghetti sauce was 5 cans for 5 dollars - I skipped that deal... within a few weeks, it'll be 4 cans for 3 dollars (or even cheaper) and I'll pick up 2 cases.

boneless skinless chicken breast is often quite cheap (around here) - $1.60ish a pound. Very little waste and it works out to about a dollar a serving (if that) And, there are tons of ways to prepare it.

Finally, I wouldn't eat crappy bland meals, just to save money. But, by planning and using sales, you can have a wider variety of foods for far less money in the long run. Last night's dinner for 4: Italian seasoned boneless chicken breast cooked on the grill, corn, buttered, seasoned noodles. Total cost of dinner for 4 was about 6 dollars and was an excellent meal. Every item was purchased at some point while it was on sale.

I made this stuff the other night.. was pretty easy, not too spendy and mighty tasty..

you need a pound of italian sausage, ordinary or turkey, 2 smallish zucchinis, 1 yellow squash, 1 onion and 1 14oz can of diced tomatoes, a bit of garlic powder and italian seasoning (or basil and oregano).

brown the sausages whole then slice them in 1/4" slices and put them back in the pan and brown them some more. slice up the squashes, chop the onion, and add them all to the pot, cook them for a couple minutes, then pour in the tomatoes and add the spices, cover and simmer for 15 minutes or so. serve it over rice. that ought to cost less than 10 dollars, maybe significantly less depending on what's on sale.. and ought to feed you 5 or 6 times.

I found being vegetarian to be cheaper than eating meat.

Lots of rice is cheap, get brown rice it's better for you.
They rotate the sales on vegetables... buy whatever is cheap and then look for recipes online.

It's cheaper to make bread than buy it, and it's easy.

Don't buy processed prepackaged foods, it's always cheaper to make it.

Make a pizza, it's easy Make the dough in large batches and freeze it for later.

I've hand rolled pasta for ravioli's that I made with butternut squash and kale. They were delicious.

We can get 6+lb flats of chicken drumsticks here for about 2$/lb.

Besides just eating them as is, there is a lot you can do with the meat. We like to mix it with Chicken Helper, or any other pasta dish for that matter.. or you can make chicken tacos...

Lasts quite a few meals.
