I have a box with a pair of MTX 10" subs and a Soundstream DTX200 watt amp left over from my booming days and my current ride has a factory amp and with no pre amp outs and no pre-amp hookups on the head unit as well. I wanted to use it in my SUV but didn't want to pay $200+ to have it professionally done, but I am not even sure it could be done without some ugly modding.

What about a decent quality LOC or Line-Out Converter?

Doesn't line out run via speaker wire ?? I'd lose a lot of power from the amp running that route.

To my understanding, the LOC simply splices into your existing speaker outputs from a factory or any deck for that matter. The LOC takes the signals and you can usually adjust the crossover from there. I don't see how you'd lose power, really, but it's not going to be as CLEAN of sound as from say a deck with non-fading pre-outs for a subwoofer. Hey, when you don't want to mess with the factory setup or spend a WHOLE lot of cash, LOC is the way to go to add some thump to your trunk. Or you can get one of those Basslink boxes, which hook up in the same matter as a LOC but everything is built into a small box.

Wouldn't you be going from DC to AC and then DC again for the sub? Sounds like a significant waste of power.

My trunk

Took me 2 years to collect all the stuff and finish it... (i was a broke high school student at the time) 8 years later I still have it.

Its the amp and subs were had for right under $500 thanks to ebay before it got bloated with idiot buyers.

The box and amp rack custom from scrap mdf. scrap marine vinyl (doesnt shrink and last longer in the sun).

then again i have no longer have a trunk. unless its like a pillow or 3 rolls of christmas wrapping paper.

For a DIY I would rather buy one of those infinity basslinks like mentioned above.

Looks like an inexpensive solution to improving stock speakers. Kudos to your imagination.
