This is a large YMMV because they are on clearance so many Best buys may be out of them, but a few of my local BB had some in stock.

$29 for a printer that still accepts extremely cheap aftermarket inks is great for some cheap printing and the ip4000 does some very nice photos, and $79 is a pretty warm price. These are the last of the Canon's that accept cheap aftermarket inks, so get them while you still can.

(I actually got an open box ip4000 for $29 but thats just bragging.)

Yeah, I snagged an IP4000 last month for $50 AR at Staples; I guess there are new models out now. If you can get one at BB for under $100 it's still a steal!

I really can't recommend the 1500, the carts are just to small. The 4000 is great though and it has 5 individual carts that are pretty big. The 4000 is rather feature pack as well.

Wow, you got a great deal. I bought my IP4000 probably 6 months or so ago for $100 after a $20 rebate and I love it. Prints nice pictures, it is pretty fast and the ink is cheap. I am extremely satisfied

Swiftink.com has their brand of inks for the IP4000 for like $3.95 a pop. I've tried them for my Epson R200 and the quality is fantastic; when the inks run out on the stock IP4000 inks I'm going to give them a shot for it as well.

The cheapest print head I found was here:
http://tinyurl.com/any27

~$60. Plus I ordered some 3rd party inks for $3.50 ea and ended up with free shipping since I met their $75 order min for free shipping.

I've been having lots of trouble with the magenta printing... needing lots of cleaning cycles.. so i thought I'd try a new print head (stilll on the original one for the last x years.)

I have the IP4000 printer...love it.

I have letter in upper tray, 4x6 glossy photos in cassette(lower) tray and its on my network via an old Parallel 802.11b print server.....and directly hooked to my primary PC via USB for large-megabyte print jobs. Not all printers allow both usb and parallel to be used.

And more recently, I was lucky and got a CD/dvd print tray for this printer from Canon USA before they stopped selling them.....you can still get them off ebay for about $20-45...search for "Canon CD Tray" or "PIXMA CD Tray" Be sure you're paying for an OEM plastic one...not some homemade knockoff. You can also make your own...plenty of info online.

Great printer at a great price!!

Anyone know if the Canon MP800 all-in-onetakes the cheap, generic ink carts?

It takes the newer carts with the microchip. You need to refill them or buy Canon carts for it.

I can and that's why I did.

The carts are small and CHEAP and you only have to buy 2 I spend anywhere fot $.89 -$1.50 for the carts and I normally buy 10 of each and they last a long time. Nothing wrong with the 4000 but the carts are more expensive and I don't care to but 5 different colors.

Thanks, 13Gigatons! Good to know. Think I'll keep my eyes open for a deal on the MP780 all-in-one then. Pretty sure that takes the generics...
