Cheap C2D memory recommendations

Well, it's getting so inexpensive I have no reason to not upgrade.

Not looking for uber speed, just something basic.

E2160 ($80) and a Asrock Conroe1333 ($46). (has to be microatx)

Plan on getting 2 x 1MB of some cheap DDR2.

The motherboard has the latest chipset revision for the 945.
Last review had the board reaching 351MHz with a SATA hdd and over 400MHz with an IDE.

My plan is an overclock from the stock fsb of 800MHz to a relatively easy 1333MHz for 9 x 333 3.0GHz. More than enough speed for me.

My question is what speed memory will this require? DDR667? DDR800? What will the final memory speed actually be at a 1/1 ratio at 1333MHz?

The memory will be running at DDR2-667 speeds with a 1:1 ratio.

OK, thanks.

Would 667MHz at 1333MHz fsb be the speed if the bios memory speed is set to 400MHz?

If I set the memory speed to 533MHz would that run the memory at 800MHz?

If this is so, would there be any noticable performance boost for gaming?

Yeah, I already scoped out the 1.4v and 1.45v mods.

Without the actual pins modding the pads couldn't be more convenient.

Needed to know about the memory cuz a 1GB stick of DDR667 can be had for $24.50.
2GB's for under $50, doesn't get any better than that.

So a 1/1 ratio would be the 400MHz or 533MHz setting in the bios for the 800 to 1333 overclock?

No need to pin-mod with a good MB. Best deal is $15 AR 1GB HP/Crucial 1.8V DDR2 667 found at HOT DEALS forum. RAM will run up to 400MHz with 2.0Vdimm and 5-5-5-15-2T timing.

That's the appeal of the deal, $46 for a motherboard that can overclock a $80 cpu.

Well worth the 5 minute pin mod for me.

With the pin mod, I'd expect the MB to think you have a 1066MHz FSB CPU so DDR2-533 should give you a 1:1 ratio.
