i was looking around on newegg and it looks like i can get a 5050e and asus m2r32-mvp for $133 or so. how is this stuff? is this a good deal? i don't need speed but the stuff i am doing is a bit processor intensive for the hardware i am doing it on - athlon xp hardware w/ only 512MB of ram, and i keep getting stutters - very annoying and i have wasted enough time waiting that i could have already made the $133 or so.

all i need it something in performance similiar to skt939 x2 3800 for some testing i am doing. already have 4GB of ddr2 667 and 2GB of ddr2 1066, have case, psu and all else, just need the m/b and cpu.

after testing this will probably replace my htpc, so let me know how this setup is

i am testing w/ 2k3 server and man, this rig is slow. how do the atoms compare to skt939 dc? currently i am in a 1+min delay from the time i click the mouse for stuff to happen and yes, i have checked - the hdd is in dma mode. it is weird because the rig is not being pushed according to the task manager, but it is sooooooo sluggish. maybe it is the gpu - gf2/mx400 @ 1920x1200??

1+min delay isn't your CPU...
You need to dig into that baby.

All virus free... correct?

well, went w/ a brisbane 5000 and the asus m/b - a quick search on the net shows it is 2k3 compatible so here's to hoping. i don't think my current board has the correct drivers and is not really supported anymore so we will see. i was going to go w/ the 5050e but it was only supported in the newest beta bios where the 5000 has been supported for some time. have 3 projects on my desk that need testing so need to get this going asap!!! guess i will get to use the 1066 ram. just out of curiosity, what happens if you use 667 ram in those setups?
