My collection of Single Malts... actually this doesn't show a bottle of The Balvenie DoubleWood I added recently...

I usually drink tequila or whiskey, sometimes scotch.

For tequila, I ask what do I want to do with it when I buy it. If I want a good tequila for drinking or quality margarita (fyi, it's just tequila, lime juice, and agave syrup... and maybe a splash of Cointreau), I usually get 1800 Anejo or Cazadores Repesado/Anejo. If I'm doing shots, then it's generally Cazadores Anejo but there are many other options out there. If I really want a good sipping tequila, I turn to Don Julio Anejo or if I really want to blow money Don Julio 1942.

For whiskey, Makers and Jack are typically my two I turn to. Jack on the rocks is my usual bar drink.

Edit: Oh, and for tequila... Patron is shit. It's not worth $50/bottle. The higher end Patron's might be good (Anejo, extra Anejo, etc) but I dislike the brand as a whole. It would be one that I wouldn't be surprised Sidney Frank created actually.

I get drunk as often as the next man but nothing beats a nice cup of Tea! The only alcohol worth spending a premium on is red wine.

I have long since learned a Long Island tastes considerably better with the good stuff.

As for shots or mixing, I much prefer Belvedere to the cheap shit.

Cheap, then a brita filter to make it top shelf.

I'm just kidding of course, the cost of the filter would make it more than the top shelf.

I love just about any scotch from the Speyside region.

For anything that is not scotch, I like to go local or small batch.

For example, my favorite vodkas:
(easy to find)
Titos
(local)
Grand Traverse Distillery (amazing rye vodka and they also make a great straight whiskey)

Small batch from local companies is almost always better. I drink my beer local, why not drink my spirits local?

Skyy is my favorite Vodka for something middle-of-the-road. Absolut isn't horrible, but some of the flavors are a bit... ugh. Svedka wasn't bad, but I still prefer Skyy. Avoid Smirnoff and Pinnacle, they're only a small step above Dubra.

Grey Goose is the most I'll spend on Vodka, and even then it's few and far between. If I want something higher end, I won't be drinking Vodka.

My collection of scotch started about 3 years ago and has grown more than I thought it would. After spending $80 on a bottle of Glenmorangie 18 year I'm cutting myself off for a while. Here's what I have so far:

I've found that certain liquors noticeably improve as you buy good brands, such as rum, tequila, bourbon, and scotch.

As for Vodka, there isn't a huge difference between the ones I've tried but some do go down smoother. However, since I typically mix vodka I don't bother spending much money on it. Svedka is my go-to brand right now.

My little home bar:

That is an impressive home bar.

For liquor, most of the time I only keep on hand a 1.75L of Ketel One Vodka, a 750ml of Hendrick's Gin, and a 750ml of 1800 for the occasional margarita.

For wine, though, it's a different story, with about 210-220 bottles in my cellar and constantly growing. I like to think that the value of each bottle is $5, but that's unfortunately not the case.

Out of the four bottles of liquor I have hiding around here three are Gins.

Bombay Sapphire
Tanqueray Rangpur
Tanqueray No. 10

Then a Laphroaig 10 year single malt.

Gin is my go to.

How do you like the Highland Park 12? I'm thinking about buying my father in law a bottle for Christmas since he's into scotch . The reviews on it are really good and the price isn't bad.

Love it. Very peaty and smoky Highland malt with a nice sweetness to it.

If he likes it, tell him the 18 year is incredible if he ever wants to drop $110 on a bottle. 🙂

*edit
oh ok i checked, i guess htc eris is sucky😛

thought it was compressed to hell but its a meg...

cheap alcohol is fucking nasty.
if it makes you sick more easily = it's shit

there's a very noticeable difference from one beer to the next, same with wines, same with hard stuff. the cheapest shit much more likely to make you sick as a dog. not to mention the taste.

Cheaper vodka I like Level by Absolute. Also I abhor Grey Goose. Prefer Stoli Elite if I'm drinking it straight.

I also like Crown Royal for a mixing whisky. Mixes great with Coke. 🙂

Other than that I stick to expensive sake. Doesn't give you a mean hangover the next day. 🙂

Scotch. Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban on the higher end (I find quickly diminishing returns above $60 a bottle), Scoresby in a jug on the lower end, since you asked for both. Scoresby is better than its pricetag suggests, which is to say it's drinkable, but it's nothing special.

guh.. i got a jug of scoresby once about two years ago. i still have a crapload of it left. maybe it's ok to you but i dont like it much as a standalone scotch. it's been relegated to the mixer pile for me. it is cheap however.
