Cheap AirFare?

Anyone found any secrets to getting cheap airfare? I am wanting to fly to lima, peru and its comming in right around $1000. Its strange because countries around there like brazil, colombia, ect are 300-400 cheaper to fly into. I even tried to delay my trip and put it well into the future (nov) thinking i could save on tickets. No such luck with that. Tickets were about the same. I went to all the major travel sites like travelocity, orbitz (the seemed the cheapest), expedia, yahoo, ect. I thought of maybe putting in a bid on priceline but i dont' know how much i would save. Any pointers would be appreciated.

thanks,

I have an evil secret.

I still have my student ID from college (it's really beat up) and I get an ISIC card every year. Then I go to STA travel and get student discounts.

Sidestep and Orbitz have good deals too. Without the student discount you might get the same fare but with a few more connections and longer flight time.

I think tickets M-Th are cheaper.

Why is landing anywhere in Midwest so fvcking expensive? (from Boston) It's like $600 roundtrip.

Same dates, a roundtrip to FL is $200-250.

Midwest freakin' sucks. I figured it would be cheaper in UT because no one goes there... (I want to visit deserts)

You just have to look at dates, locations and airlines.

The big boys will rip you off many times.

NW and MidWest want $500 from Boston to Iowa.

AirTrans did it for $250.
