I am looking to update my 32meg savage pro stealth III card. I am having trouble with some games and I think it is due to OpenGl and 3D. I am running a pentium III 667 and will be upgrading my computer soon and do not want to spend alot of money. The product descriptions do not always say 3d and or OpenGl so I am having trouble locating a cheap video card that has both OpenGl and 3D.

Using Windows 98.
Thanks for your help.

If you want a good card for cheap, try either the Geforce4 MX440 64MB card or the ATI Radeon 9000 64MB DDR card.
Both cards are almost equal in performance and both support Opengl and Direct3D for any game.
They both should run between $50-$65.
Good Luck :)

I agree with daveybrat. Stay away from the savage pro. The Geforce4 MX440 64DDR card or the ATI Radeon 9000 64meg DDR card have full support for D3D and OpenGL. They will be much better cards.

Circuit City has the Radeon 7500 64MB DDR AGP card for 59.99 AR this week. It's not as good as the 9000, but it is cheaper.

Thanks for the help. I do not know alot about video cards other than I have several games that I cannot play and I think it relates to my Diamond Stealth III s540 video card. With my luck I will replace the card and the games still will not work.

Thanks again.

well, you can get a good GeForce3 (Gainward Ti200 Golden Sample) for around $90 which is probably the best card in that range for strictly gaming purposes. Gainward also has some of the better 2D out of all the Nvidia mfgrs.

well, if "cheap" means under USD 100, then I'll suggest any OEM version of Radeon 8500/8500LE. It would be better than Radeon 9000 or GF3 Ti200 :)

Tigerdirect.com has the original Geforce 3 for $69.97 with no rebate hassles.
