Can anyone recommend a cheap pair of DDR1 memory sticks (2 x 512MB) that will do 250MHz (DDR500) @ CAS3, preferrably for around $100.

that ocz premier stuff almost certainly won't reach DDR500. and only one model in your second link will, the ocz gold. this is good memory and is a great buy ($128 after MIR at newegg) but probably of no use to you. why? well, it depends on how much voltage (vdimm) you motherboard can provide. the ocz gold doesn't really take off until your give it 3.0V or more. if you motherboard maxes out at less than that, the only way you can get it to DDR500 and above is to buy an OCZ DDR booster (~$50, i think).any memory that uses BH-5 or UTT chips aren't gonna be viable options for you b/c of this reason.
so your best option is memory with TCCD chips and you're gonna be hard pressed to find a gig of that stuff (new) for a hundred bucks. if you can splurge about $150 you shouldn't have too hard a time finding some TCCD memory like the OCZ platinum rev.2 that can do DDR500 with ease.

best TCCD/TCC5 option would be any of these, all good deals between $148-157:

if you really don't plan to exceed 250mhz or so, I would go with the BH-5 and DDR booster as it will give you lower latency than the TCCD. If you are shooting for 300FSB 1:1, then you want TCCD.

No that crucial has micron G same as ballistix has micron G. Of course thier are no guarantees...

I have a DDR BOOSTER, and it works. There is nothing empirically robust that I have at the moment that confirms this "belief," but I "believe" it stabilizes voltages to memory even if it's set down to its minimum -- your motherboard's "maximum."
I have another friend who uses it to bump up his OCZ VX modules to 3+V -- maybe higher.
Other friends have said "I'd never put something like that in my system," but they're also afraid to over-clock, even though they have a range of settings under stock VCORE and VDIMM which would allow them to do so.

Too lazy to look in the HD thread about it - I think they were saying BH-6's though.
eh, sorry, it's CH-5. Still, at stock it's rated, so it should work and you can't beat the price.
Heh heh! That's the stuff I have (from Outpost) and it can't hit 233 at CAS3. The older HyperX I have (see sig.) is much better, but this new stuff is crap. Either that or my A8N-SLI just doesn't like it... which is a possibility.
