(Should note: It's $11.95 with a $10 mail-in rebate. Shipping from these guys is generally $4.95 for UPS 2-day).

You know, I'm starting to love these guys. They've had some fantastic deals lately, and this is another one. They're a little unorganized... note that they also have Thief Gold (appears to be the EXACT same thing) for $14.95 before rebate here:

http://www.msbcd.com/catalog_type.asp?ProductCode=22144

Who knows.

Anyway, if you're going to order this, I highly recommend ordering this very hot deal at the same time:

http://www.msbcd.com/promo.asp?ProductCode=24680

It's for the World Book Millennium 2000 edition encyclopedia, but that's not what most people care about: They're throwing in Norton Systemworks 3.0 Professional (newest version!). They've been walking up the price on this one since the deal began, but it's still hot: $48.95 with a $40 mail-in rebate. Hard to beat $8.95 for systemworks 2K pro.

If anyone sees anything else that's a great deal with these guys, post it so we can combine and save on shipping. (By the way, if you don't want to go the $8.95 for the systemworks route, you can get the World Book by itself for $40 with the $40 mail-in rebate. Just search for world book.)

Correction: Technically shipping is $4.95 per order for UPS ground. But the last two orders I placed from them both arrived UPS 2-day (for $4.95). So I guess it's roll the dice.

I got annoyed with the frequency they were sending me that damn newsletter and so unsubscribed, but it seems like they generally include a couple super-deals in it which are versions of their specials with a few extra bucks knocked off.

I think that the $10 rebate on Thief: Gold is an upgrade for owners of the original Thief. It doesn't say that on the web site, but the mail-in upgrade rebate has been available for quite some time now.

They're pretty good about rebates. If it were an upgrade-only deal, I think they'd say that. Also, a number of their rebates are from them, not the manufacturer (ala cyberrebate.com).

Guys ... I'd be REALLY careful about going ahead with this rebates. I have a couple of concerns, first there is NO product by Eidos Interactive called "THIEF GOLD : THE DARK PROJECT". There are the following games ...

(Look here http://www.eidosinteractive.com/prod_home.html)

THIEF : THE DARK PROJECT and
THIEF GOLD

Secondly, as evident from this page (
http://www.eidosinteractive.com/thiefgold/index.htm) the rebate is indeed an upgrade rebate and needs the buyer to own THIEF : THE DARK PROJECT.

Proceed with caution !!!

"Thief Gold" is "Thief: The Dark Project" with an additional three missions, bringing the total number of missions to 15. I bought "Thief Gold" at a local EB a couple of weeks ago and there was a sticker on it offering a 10 dollar rebate for the purchase of "Thief 2: The Metal Age" with the proof of purchase of the former title. Hope this helps to clear up at least some of the confusion here. :)

MSBCD is either incompetent or a scam.
I bought 3 products from them, 2 of the products
had the needed rebate cards removed from the box
before I received it. I had no way of getting the
rebates. They cleared up the first one, known
to many as the "Free Images" fiasco. The second
one I returned and hopefully will get a refund.

Now they misrepresented the Thief Gold software by
saying it had a $10 rebate but failed to mention
the need to buy another product to get the rebate.

:Q Wow. I sit and type corrected.

I just got Thief Gold in the mail. That was fast.
AND they sent me a $10 rebate check WITH the order.

So, the game cost me $2 plus $5 shipping.

I ordered the World Book deal from them. I got SW2000 Pro and they even included a form for me to send in to get the rebate. I have never done business with them before, but this purchase went great.
