If Obama as president of the United States does not obey the orders of the empire, they will kill him, like they killed Kennedy, like they killed Martin Luther King, or Lincoln, who freed the blacks and paid with his life.

Obama better watch his back for the fashion industry and Zoolander!

It just shows that some people will just hate the USA regardless of who's in charge. They're just making excuses IMO to keep the hate going.

The Chavez statement spreads heat and little light, its Chavez that is more less declaring his continued war against America without giving Obama even a chance to see if the Obama policy will be any different than
the GWB policy. If the relative power differences were reversed, Chavez could lecture a puny USA, but its not, and and a 800 pound gorilla is not going to pay much attention to one single ant waving their fist.

Besides, Chavez is in the Musharraf and GWB position, constitutional term limits say they must soon go as the fearless leader of their country, Musharraf is already gone,
GWB will be gone in two days, and in terms of beating term limits, Chavez has been voted down once by his own people in an blatant attempt to beat term limits.

Chavez said he hopes he is not right about this.
We shall see, he may be wrong as Obama voted against CAFTA and supports fair trade and renegotiating NAFTA.
But having a Clinton cabinet does nothing to improve relations with South America. (even though NAFTA was Bush's daddys thing that Clinton signed in the spirit of bipartisanship)
Regardless, the neo-liberal crap has to go. NO reason or excuse for a Democrat to be involved in imperialism in this age.
Are they not supposed to be the "good guys" and the Reps the exploiters/exploders of poor brown people in third world countries?

And wait..wtf is a hardcore neocon hack doing in here supporting what Chavez says? You are desperate beyond all measures.

edit: fair trade

But let it be said that up to this point he has respected the wishes of his people. Only time will tell but i don't think democracy is dead yet in that part of the world. Crazy considering how horrible bush was at dealing with south America. But thats just par for the course.

Wow. Chavez is an idiot. He knows nothing of Obama and nothing of the history of the USA, especially regarding blacks and the South. Yet again, he has to keep the "heat" on the US as he is still continuing to solidify his power w/ elimination of term limits, etc. He is a two-bit dictator in charge of what otherwise is a country with great potential. Hopefully the Venezuelan people will see him for what he is, like we did with Bush, and take the additional step of a good ol' fashioned tar and feather show. F&ck Chavez.

On the one hand, if Hitler said something against Obama, then that would mean that the OP has a valid position.

On the other hand, if Hitler said something good for Obama, then we'd have to question just who this guy Obama really is.

Tough one...

The devil is in the details here that k3n left out, Chavez was saying he could be like Bush, and he hoped he was wrong by saying so, it was kind of a half-assed peace offering to Obama after such crap relations with the USA after neocons screwing everything up for so long.

This whole pro-corporate US oil company propaganda Anti-Chavez bit is STUPID.

Not only do quite a few of you know better then to buy that crap it is dumb as hell to isolate him, yay, lets force him into the arms of Putin of other unsavory characters that really are our enemies.

dumb dumb dumb, and you guys eat it up hook line and sinker.

If he actually killed anyone, oppressed his people or media then fine, bash him, call him a dictator, whatever.

But in reality he has helped his people, helped poor people here in the USA, and besides being a dick to bush done nothing but try to hold his shit together and help out the common man (and is wildly popular in his country unlike our president we have had for 8 years.)

Give it a rest, you guys sound like exxon lackeys.

The guy has been reelected over and over in some of the most watched elections in the world, now is not the time to go on being pricks to our neighbors, it would be nice to have friends and allies again in south america before china moves in and screws us in another way.

Or just let china/russia take it all, cuz Chavez is friends with Castro..oh noes!

Chavez has actually talked to Castro many times and Castro has admitted he was wrong to Chavez about many things, lets not even get into how stupid the ongoing cuban blockade is after all these years, and how pointless it is to continue it.

The anti-Chavez bit is just another continuation of such a irrational right-wing failed policy, how about we start using our heads again?

Talk about eating it up hook, line, and sinker. I actually have family that lives there, and I can tell you it isn't quite as rosy as some lefties would have you believe......

The only person Chavez has helped is himself.......

I think we are getting away from the news value in this thread and what we should be hoping for in the future. As JSrOrm01 points out, Venezuela democracy is not dead and so far Chavez is subservient to it.

But in my mind, the value of this thread is two fold.

1. Chavez has made a statement, like it or not, that is news.

2. We can hope that at some time in the future, US and Venezuela relations will improve. We only fool ourselves if we think one side is 100% right and the other side is 0% wrong. And therefore its going to take concessions on both sides to achieve that desired future improvement.

And demonizing K3N, Chavez, or Obama, sheds zero light and a relative tempest in teapot P&N divisive heat.

As do I, things are not perfect but they are a hell of a lot better then before Chavez. No one is being repressed (except maybe the ruling class is not getting as rich as they were at the expense of the common worker)

Big deal, like I said, the anti-Chavez policies are wrong-headed and demonizes a democratically elected and somewhat successful potential ally in the hands of our real enemies just because of old stupid anti-Castro policys.
