Yes. Losing a cheque is not a big deal at all. Pay the cheque stop fee and move on with your life.

Losing a money order is a bigger deal.

I assume it's a money order since my friend's bank is going to reimburse him the entire amount that was on the MO after he puts a stop payment on it. Thanks for caring so much about whether it was a check or MO.

Yea I'm gonna switch once I reroute all my payments to another bank account. Never had a problem with Wamu.

Does anybody know how to find the district manager's contact info for Irvine Chase branches?

If you look young dont bother, Chase exists in Irvine to scam money out of clueless college students. So many of my friends have had bad experiences with them only to be told "tough shit" by any manager they talked to.

I've had Union Bank since I was 16 and they're fantastic. They even told paypal to fuck off when I got scammed on ebay for 250 bucks.

A month ago, I deposited a money order at a Chase Branch ATM. The machine jammed and my money order could not be retrieved (deposit slip door shut). There was a receipt of the malfunction and it told me to call the claims department. I freaked out since it was on the weekend and the Branch office would not open till the following Monday. I filed a claim ASAP and I also followed up on the following Monday. The store manager assured me that my money order was ok and I had nothing to worry about since the machine would be cleared and my money order would be there so they added the amount of the check to my account.

Fast forward to today, I receive a call from Chase saying that they were not able to locate the check and asked I had a copy of it. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. So I asked the lady what were the consequences if I did not produce the check and she said they would deduct the amount from my account.

Am I screwed or what?

What can I do? I don't have a copy of the money order and the person who gave it to me left the country.

Cliffs:
Money Order got stuck in the ATM when depositing.
Chase Branch manager assures me everything is fine.
I get call from Chase today saying they can't find the check and they'll deduct the amount from my account.

This is where I am glad the BOFA atms scan in images of what I deposited and puts of copy of that on my receipt not to mention on the screen for me to verify. Other than that i'l look into a credit union. Better service ftw.
