Charter Communications Cable TV Price Reductions

I just bought an el cheapo RCA Direct TV @ Amazon for $40 or so and had it installed for free activated it & called Charter Communications to have my cable TV disconnected. They offered to cut my bill for basic, expanded, digital service, & 2 premium channel subscriptions (HBO & Showtime for me) to $29.99/month, about a 40% reduction, & promised to honor the deal till Feb of 2002. I disconnected the satellite & hooked the cable back up...

I've heard AT&T will do a price break too.

As with most deals YMMV...

Charter Broadband Moves into Circuit City Stores

Charter Communications is working with retail giant Circuit City in an effort to display, demonstrate and sell advanced cable and broadband services through 63 stores in areas served by the cable operator.

Under an agreement between the two companies, customers can test either Charter Pipeline or Charter@Home high-speed Internet service, purchase a self-install kit and cable modem, receive more information on the product and order the broadband service. In addition, consumers will be able to view and order Charter Digital Cable service and check out other advanced digital services.

The first Charter displays are expected to be installed as early as July.

In addition to selling Charter cable service, Circuit City is a leading retailer for DirecTV.

Just got off the phone from them again, the offer is good evidently for 3 months only (I'm not finished with them, CS told me yesterday that the offer was good for 6 mo) I did make them give me last months service free for the confusion & my time tho...

In WV, they have lousy Charter too.

Basis is $14 / month
Expanded $22 / month
Charter Pipeline modem rental $5 / month
Charter Pipeline Gold Service $35 / month and it's a pathetic 512 kb/s which is a rip off!

I love Charter. This is the same kinda deal you can get from the Direct TV when you
try to cancel with them. When I canceled my Direct TV they offered 2 months free or
some other stuff to stay with them but I said no. It all depends on how much they want
you as a customer. This also works great with credit card companys. As long as you
have another option calling to cancel one service is a great way to get some free
service, lower fee, lower rate etc... You just need to be able to switch if it comes to
it.

I am paying $99 for charter pipeline, digital cable, plus all movie channels in Houston. This is only a slight more than what i pay in austin minus the movie channels in my apt in Austin. I think i pay $90 in Austin, but of course the speed in Houston is 500kps vs my awsome 2Mbps in Austin. I perfer to watch just digital cable and have a faster connection than watch movies and get some crappy download speeds.

Comcast offered us a similar deal, I think it was 30% off for a year or something like that. Unfortunately I had a BUD satellite, not the little Dish type ones so I didn't qualify.
