Great. A movie that glorifies the serial killer Aileen Wuornos and her lesbian lover.
rolleye.gif

glorifies?
rolleye.gif

Yes. LOOK at the damn video. It starts by making you feel sorry for her because she's an ugly outcast.

Whether you feel sorry for someone or not it hardly glorifies a killing spree

Anything that makes you "feel" for a serial killer is glorification. How many freaky little teen girls are going to identify with this image they've painted of her?

You are judging the movie based on a 2 minute preview....which are created for the purpose of making people want to see the movie.

I cannot say how I will feel about the character after seeing the entire thing.

Given the amount of oscar buzz Theron is receiving it seems to be an impressive character study

It IS rated R so anyone over 17 should be mature enough to know it is wrong to kill people. Those under 17 are with an adult. Not my type of movie but good for those who like the characther studies.

Riiiight. And we all know teens NEVER watch R movies.

What a great actress picked up off the street (err, discovered while throwing a tantrum in a bank).

Yah so that's the movie's fault? Should all R movies be lowered down to pg-13 cause teens are going to see R movies even though they aren't supposed to.

murder, mutilation, rape, metrosexuality (damn you queer eye), and drugs are fine. It's the smoking, eating red meat/bread, having a normal healthy relationship, speaking in favor of our government, and having values that our country won't stand for on television/movies.

Um, yes. Putting out media that sympathizes with a serial killer is repugnant.

That about sums it up.

that must be the movie about either the women iin Florida or Kentucky that went on killing sprees.

Ahahahah! That's exactly what I was thinking. That's not Charlize! That's Jon Voight!

cause the poster shows her looking more normal. more charlize.
are you sure they didn't just change the actress and forget to retitle?!

Welcome to the real world, most folks don't walk around with professionally applied makeup and airbrushed to the max.

she does have make up
to make her look ugly

I saw a making of clip - she's wearing a ton of latex makeup and gained a lot of weight for the role.. It's supposedly a very good movie that does not glorify the life of a serial killer.. in fact, i beleive it's called "monster".... it's a character study, yes.. but it's supposedly well done and not glamorous at all- if they wanted to glorify serial killers they'd have charlize act in it with the make up off

Well should the movie be banned from theaters in your opinion? It was rated R, what else should be done? I think you may be jumping to conclusions because you haven't seen the movie. My advice to you if you are so offended is, don't go see it. Plus it's a limited release. You may think it is repugnant, I wouldn't say I think it is repugnant but I'm not going to see it. I will some how be able to deal with the fact that it is in theaters, however. If, however, the movie does inspire anyone to become either a lesbian or kill people I will admit that I am wrong.

If you think I think it should be banned, you don't know me at all. And the movie rating system is a joke. The "R" is simply a sign that attracts teens, not stops them.

No, I do not think it should be banned, but it should be boycotted and viewed for what it is: The glorification of a serial killer.

I'm a libertarian minded conservative. I believe in freedom with morality enforced by public pressure, not laws.

It's not a question of offense. It's a question of common decency.

I totally agree, public pressure is perfectly fine in my opinion. What bothers me is people that think that by banning something they are "helping" those around them. Well if the rating system was inforced....Don't know what could be used to replace it though. Possibly parents that take responsibility for their kids, like that is going to happen. Oh well🙂
