Why the hell do they call it a Charlie Horse? There has got to be a better name for it:

God's grip of pain...
The +30 Hammer of Agony...
Muscle Implosion...
Leg revolt...
Anti-evolution mechanism...
God's joke for those upright monkeys...
The forgotten dagger implant...

or how about simply one of the top 5 types of pain that humans get. Top 10 if you're female.

never had a muscle clamp up on you in your leg late at night and you get jolted fully awake? its usually in the back of ones calf (the lower back of the leg below the knee)

How can I describe it...hmmm...

Imagine one man has one end of your calf muscle and another guy has the other end and they both decide suddenly to pull on it as hard as they possibly can. While that is happening, a bunch of little people crawl into the muscle itsself and start poking at it from the inside with pieces of iron that have been baked at 450 degrees for three days.

That's what it feels like in the beginning. Then it gets worse.....

My description would be someone has looped your muscle around itself in a knot and the too big heavy guys yank on either end to since the knot up as tight as the muscle fibers can go. All the while some take a hot little dagger and starts sawing through the knot.

How about uh... the Jolly Green Giant takes your muscle between his thumb and finger and tries to pop it like a zit? 😉

That should make sense to just about everyone.. lol
