Charging Lithium batteries in a NIHY charger. Bad?

I just picked up a 12 pack of AA lithium batteries. Now I see a small print warning on my NIHY charger not to charge anything but NIHY in it. Valid warning or not? Has anyone tried this?

You NEVER EVER charge LITHIUM batteries evar unless you like fires and explosions.
 
NO NO NO NO NO!!!!

DO NOT charge any lithium batter on anything but a Lithium battery charger, and only if it's marked as rechargable!

That is... unless you want whatever structure you attempted it in to burn down.

There are many rechargable lithium batterys out there. Laptops, handhelds, cell phones, iPods, hobby stuff, etc. But they require very close monitoring while charging, all batterys in consumer goods (laptops, etc) have circuitry to prevent fires while charging.
 
NIHY? Nitrogen-Iodine-Hydrogen-Yttrium?

AA Lithium batteries are NOT rechargeable. Don't try with any kind of charger!
 
Well the package was brought home by a family member. Upon closer examination, I see they are not rechargeables.
Thanks for the info.. But don't laptops have Lithium ion batteries that recharge?

Yes. But the chemistry is different. Li-ion rechargeables require special charging circuitry with temperature monitoring and "smart" current regulation. They can make quite the unfortunate mess if improperly recharged.

That might be a brand name, or else an abbreviation more common to a different language. (The common abbreviation in English is NiMH--Ni, the chemical symbol for nickel, and MH for Metal Hydride.)

The AA lithium battery that is supposed to work in place of regular AA battery is a severe weather or high drain application battery that is not rechargeable.

Lithium ion(always sold in form of a pack) and disposable lithium battery(coin, AA, cylindrical) are very different.
 
are you sure you have lithium rechargables? those things cost like 40 dollars for a couple.....very expensive. think laptop battery expensive.
