Chargers trade for chris chambers

Holy crap. Miami swore up and down that he was staying put.

What was the rest of the deal? I can't find any word of it on yahoo sports.

San Diego has acquired wide receiver Chris Chambers from the Miami Dolphins for what it believed a second-round draft choice, FOXSports.com has learned.

Chambers confirmed the trade in an email to FOXSports, but declined further comment until speaking with Dolphins coach Cam Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller.
Chambers has 31 catches for 415 yards with no touchdowns this season.

Wow. I know he's got a huge ass contract...but that's cheap. He's a decent WR.

Yea, he's put up some nice numbers on a horrible team. Just think, he's actually got potential to do something big on the Chargers.

and you believed it? 😕

He was one of two playmakers on that side of the ball. There wouldn't be a lot they could they could trade for to make that team any better.

Well, they definitely got worse now as a result. Now nobody is going to respect the Dolphin's passing game in the slightest. I guess Miami is going for a perfect record this year - 0-16.

Miami is shooting for first draft pick next season 😛

Yeah; their main competition I'm sorry to say might be the Jets

Right now I'm just rooting for the Jets to get a nice high draft pick 😛

Miami isn't going anywhere in the next several years. Matter as well get something for your only valuable players.

True, but then why did they bother getting Trent Green? He's got 2 years left MAX, and isn't part of any team's long-term plans, so why bother? Why not find out if some young QB can play? Why trade future picks for guys who are barely going to help now, on a team which wasn't ever going anywhere anyway. Makes no sense.

In other news, Bennett (KC backup up RB) went to Tampa.

KC better hope they keep LJ healthy. Or are do they have "faith" in Priest making a legitmate comeback?

Agreed. I think dealing Chambers was an OK move, but like you said it makes little sense to have picked up Green :\

what makes you think chambers will have any more of an impact than jackson? if rivers ever threw him the ball (like he did against denver), his stats would be comparable to a lot of #1's, but in san diego your job as a WR is to block for LT.

getting him gives SD a lot more options, and he may get good 1v1 chances downfield. Either that or open up the middle for gates and LT to work

Chris Chambers is nasty, better than Jackson. Plus it gives you more options - now if the defense is stacking 8 in the box, you've got Gates, Jackson, AND chambers to throw to.

exactly.

So they passed on a franchise QB this past draft for a receiver but apparently are overstocked on receivers as they're letting their best go.

That franchise is a mess.
