charger for smartphone

hi guys.

I recently bought an htc 8x and this is my 1st smartphone :d. So i am quite a newbie when it comes to this stuff and have a very simple.

i have the original charger cable and adaptor at homebut find myself needing one for office. Will any adopter cable combo or separate adaptor and micro usb cable do or do i need to have a specific model?

thanks!

any cable will supposedly work, but i would spend the extra bux to get another cable from the manufacturer of the phone. ive noticed that the third party chargers sometimes take longer to charge (so they clearly arent electrically like the one that came with the phone), or heat up a lot more and id worry they might ruin your phones battery, or even eventually zap your phone. whenever i get a new phone the first thing i do i order five or six extra chargers exactly like the one that came with the phone. 's mo' betta ta be safe dan sorry!

htc is relatively common, will any Htc charger (one X, desire X etc.) do...I am asking because I had to courier the 8X to my place since it isnt available in my city...but android HTC phones are...

personally i would want to get the exact one that came with the phone, although it may use the same charger that they ship with their android phones. you can search "htc charger" at amazon, and see if what they are selling looks like your charger or has the same product number. it looks like htc may ship the same chargers will a lot of their recent phones since the pics are the same. they are practically free.

A number of reviews indicate that the charger sold in that link is counterfeit. Personally, I'd avoid it.

I didn't look at it that hard, it looked like the right thing, good call though.

Whatever the OP does, he shouldn't order the adapter from HTC direct. They charge $20 for the wall wart, and then another $25 for the USB cable.

I use whatever charger that I have around my house for my phone. The ones that came with Kindles, iPhones, iPad, laptop travel kit, etc,. I don't have an HTC phone but I haven't run into a problem with any of my devices. But in my experience:

1) If you use charger meant for smaller devices, it will take longer.
2) Longer cables seem to take just a tad longer than shorter ones to charge a same device.
3) Make sure the device is recognizing the power source as 'AC,' not 'USB.'

there are probably multiple sellers selling it and some of them are shipping fake ones. that pic looks like its the authentic htc one. you can also get chargers at stores that specialize in this stuff, but they charge more for them. amazon seems to be where people dump overstock
