Same Character, Different Actor

58 people voted for Homer Simpson, probably because the voice changed... who are these people who think the first season of The Simpsons was the best? 😕 The Simpsons didn't jump the shark until at least the later part of the first decade.

WTF - Homer's voice has always been Dan Castelenetta (sp?).

After further review - that list sucks donkey balls...I see at least a half dozen entries that are wrong (the best being CBS Evening News, Walter Cronkite --> Dan Rather).

Well, the list sucks because they are trying to be overly clever or include even the slightest example to put on the list. Of course, Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm is like Jerry Seinfeld in Seinfeld but there's no reason why that should be on the list.

Does the blonde in Three's Company count or was that a different character?

How about movies:
Dumbledore - Harry Potter
The Oracle - The Matrix
Rachel - Batman

And sadly, all three of those new actors completely sucked compared to the previous ones, especially The Oracle. God, she was horrible.

Some of those are a stretch though - Whose Line Is It Anyway? I thought everyone essentially played themselves (you know what I mean), i.e. Drew is Drew. Replacing a host isn't the same as two actors same character.

Why the hell is Survivor on the list? People play THEMSELVES!

Anyways, one I thought of was Bugs Bunny's voice and how it changed when the voice actor(s) died

My Wife and Kids, Family Matters, I remembered those
Ghostbusters lol

I'm not sure how Mike replacing Joel on MST3k counts. It was the same premise but they were different characters.

Sliders was really messed up when they switched main characters. "Oops some random fluke turned me into a different person. Oh well let's keep moving." I pretty much stopped watching after that.

It's always been Dan Castelenetta, but he started out doing the Walter Mathau voice before switching to the current voice.

That list obviously uses a more broad definition of "same character" than what the OP is looking for.

Who Killed Mr. Burns, imo... I can't believe all the people who think that The Simpsons never jumped the shark. http://www.jumptheshark.com/to...-General-Comments/1795

I think most current Simpsons watchers were born after the show started, or at least close to it.

Although I do know someone in her 30s who is still a die-hard fan, and she says I'm not a good fan because I don't watch the show anymore. I tell her she's not a good fan because she kept watching it after it turned to crap instead of letting it die with dignity. 😉

Saavik in Star Trek...
Kirsty Alley && Robin Curtis.

One of the kids in Family Matters.

Cody in Step by Step

A few of the voice actresses changed in Sailor Moon Cartoons.

In the Showtime series "Dexter", Dexter's girlfriends son (Cody) changed from season one to season two.
Daniel Goldman was in season one, Preston Bailey was in season two.

The kid on Baywatch switched actors after the first season or two. And I'm a little scared as to why in the world I remember that. Or knew it in the first place.

That list isn't totally legit. In Monk, the two characters fill the same role but they're not the same character per se like in Fresh Prince.

The youngest daughter in "Growing Pains" changed... but they also added about 6 years in between seasons so I guess it was a bit more obvious.

HOLD THE PHONE. All of the episodes of Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Vivian looked the same. Now, this means one of two things.

1. I've only ever seen all the older episodes (or only newer episodes, but more likely the former)

2. I am BLIND. I am googling this right now.

UPDATE apparently I have never seen any of the new episodes (googled the pictures of both). This makes me feel a little better.

You could also do a list of actors that played different characters on the same show.

I remember on The Cosby Show the guy that played Denise's husband Martin was seen in an earlier season playing a completely different character on a date with Sandra.

I think even a racist would notice the difference. It's like the difference between dark chocolate and caramel.
